Nexstar Inc., America’s largest local broadcasting company, is seeking an experienced, confident, and results oriented leader to serve as Director of Sales for WRBL-TV and all digital, mobile, and social assets associated with wrbl.com in the Columbus, Georgia market (DMA #127).
Columbus is known for its hospitality, artsy energy and thriving food scene. The community also has deep respect for its history and the military through its connection to Ft. Benning, home of the US Army Infantry and the Ranger School. Columbus is also home to American Family Life Assurance Company (AFLAC), which provides a range of insurance products both in the United States and globally. In recent years, Columbus has seen diversification in its local economy, tying into Georgia's booming film industry as well as tourism, with the opening of the world's longest urban whitewater course on the Chattahoochee River. Across river, on the Alabama side of the market, communities such as, Auburn, Eufaula, and Opelika are home to various attractions, institutions, and industries. They include Lake Eufaula, the ''Bass Fishing Capital of the World,'' Auburn University and various automotive parts suppliers tied to KIA Motors Manufacturing facility located in West Point, GA. A weekend getaway to popular spots as Callaway Resort and Gardens, Atlanta, or the beautiful beaches of the Gulf of Mexico are all a short drive away.
The Director of Sales oversees all aspects of the Local, National and Digital Sales departments, including staff management, inventory control, revenue goal setting, budgeting, and execution of strategic plans. Working closely with the VP/GM, the Director of Sales will be responsible and accountable for the achievement of all sales related activities and goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Provide clear, positive leadership for the sales team and sales managers
+ Develop and execute sales strategies which result in exceeding revenue targets
+ Manage inventory, pricing, budgeting, and revenue forecasting
+ Strong background in new business and digital revenue development
+ Manage all Political advertising
+ Initiate strategic, long-term staffing decisions to result in #1 sales producing team in the market
+ Develop positive relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and advertising agencies through regular communication and community involvement
+ Possess a team spirit attitude that encompasses all Nexstar divisions, outside rep firms, vendors, and associated organizations
+ Direct the Accounts Receivable efforts of the Sales Department.
+ Understands various forecasting tools and CRM software that provide clear forecasting reports updated weekly
+ Effectively communicate with Nexstar Media Group, Inc. Corporate officers, WRBL VP/GM, Sales department, and all company/station divisions
+ Perform other duties as assigned as requested by WRBL VP/GM

Requirements & Skills:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising or Mass Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
+ Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in media sales
+ Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
+ Full knowledge and understanding of FCC rules and regulations pertaining to sales procedures including political advertising requirements
+ Ability to work under strict deadlines with impeccable attention to detail
+ Experience guiding, directing, and motivating team members, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance
+ Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them
+ Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge, skills, and results
+ Proficiency with WideOrbit, ComScore, Nielsen, Matrix, or a similar CRM as well as Excel, Word and other various business and broadcast software programs
