Your main tasks and responsibilities:

+ Performs layouts, sets up, and operates conventional machine tools as required

+ Reads and interprets all drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

+ Designs setups and methods where none exist

+ Instructs other shop personnel in proper machining techniques: set-ups, feeds and speeds for both carbide and high-speed steel cutting tools, methods and standard operating procedures

+ Operate manual and automatic feeds to 0.0002” as required for final cuts

+ Stay attentive while the CNC is running

+ Load proper material / parts

+ Be able to quickly shut down or change the program to prevent detrimental damage to the machine or personnel safety

+ Calculate / Anticipate tool offset changes due to wear during the machine process

+ CNC Maintenance- Maintain Oil Levels as required and clean area.

+ Q.C. all manufactured parts prior to removing from machine and informing the Department

+ Improves methods for higher quality and improved costs

To succeed in this role, you will need:

+ High School diploma or equivalent

+ Completion of a CNC Machinist apprentice program or equivalent training

+ Must have experience Programming and Operating CNC Lathes and Milling Centers

+ Ability to hold close tolerances and conduct component inspections

+ Demonstrated ability to effectively set up all, or at least most, of the following machines: I.D./O.D. Grinder,

Turret Lathe, Engine Lathe, Knee Mill, Radial Drill, Horizontal Boring Mill, Vertical Boring Mill, and Planer Mill

+ Ability to perform with a minimum of direct supervision

+ Working knowledge of tool geometry and application

+ Working knowledge of effects of feeds and speeds

+ Must be able to use precision measuring instruments

+ Willingness to work in a team environment

+ Ability to work overtime as required
