    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This position is for an Applications Engineer who will focus primarily on optical temperature measurement pyrometersolutions for the semiconductor & high technology industrial markets. They will apply their extensive experience to help with the development and implementation of innovative solutions to customer temperature measurement requirements. This will include working directly with our key customers, Global Sales and Marketing teams to define new product requirements. They will provide clarification during initial customer contact, and product development, and aid with installation of new solutions at customer sites, both in person, and remotely. They will also aid in resolving high level technical inquiries from sales, representatives, and the Advanced Energy website.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Establish a close working relationship with strategic customers to help define and develop new application solutions that bring measurable value to the customer.

    + Work with customers to identify unique technical challenges and coordinate with the product engineering and marketing teams to create solutions to address these needs.

    + Work collaboratively with the customer, the product teams and all internal company resources required to address quality issues and direct failure analysis to aid in corrective action efforts.

    + Accompany Sales team members on pre-sales visits as the technical product expert and to demonstrate product capabilities.

    + Support Engineering teams on innovative designs, enhancements to existing products, and provide knowledge of market applications.

    + Train and support the account sales team on products and applications germane to the specific customer’s application.

    + Prepare solution proposals, applications notes, and white papers.

    + Present information related to company products and applications.

    + Provide expert level technical support to customers and internal staff.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    + Located in Vancouver WA

    + Standard office and laboratory environment.

    + Up to 15% travel, domestic and international is required

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Knowledge and understanding of basic thermodynamic and electromagnetic concepts

    + Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.

    + Detail oriented, with solid organizational skills, and ability to prioritize effectively in a flexing work environment.

    + Ability to effectively listen to internal and external customer needs and offer appropriate solutions.

    + Ability to work independently as needed, in a multi-national, collaborative and highly innovative team environment.

    + Self-motivated and enthusiastic about area of expertise, as well as providing high level customer service.

    + Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.

    EXPERIENCE:

    + A minimum of 2-3 years of technical experience in a high technology company, preferably with a focus on optical temperature sensors and metrology.

    + Demonstrated experience working with customers in person, and remotely, on challenging technical issues.

    + Practical hands-on experience with product development, experimental design, and testing.

    _Desired_

    + Experience with optical measurement systems.

    + Working knowledge of blackbody radiation physics, and optical pyrometry.

    + Prior experience in the semiconductor industry or optical measurement systems.

    + Prior Sales/Applications/Marketing experience.

    + Material Science or Physics background, some mechanical design experience.

    EDUCATION:

    + Bachelor’s degree, or greater, in Physics, Engineering or related field of Science.

    COMPENSATION:

    _As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $80,000 to $100,000 per year._
