We have a contract opportunity for a Senior SCADA Engineer (Cybersecurity)will serve as the technical lead for the design, development, security, and daily support of Metropolitan’s SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) network infrastructure. This position is responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and cybersecurity of critical Industrial Control Systems (ICS), leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies in network and security architecture.
The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of hands-on experience working with SCADA and ICS environments, deep knowledge of networking protocols, and proven expertise in designing and maintaining secure, high-availability control system infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Serve as thetechnical lead for SCADA Network and Cybersecurity infrastructureefforts, including design, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
+ Design and implement secure ICS LAN/WAN architectures usingEIGRP, BGP, VLAN, and VPN technologies.
+ Configure, manage, and maintain network equipment such asswitches, routers, and firewallswithin the SCADA environment.
+ Support integration and communication with field devices using SCADA protocols includingModbus, DNP3, and CIP.
+ Collaborate with internal IT, cybersecurity, and project management teams, as well as external consultants, to deliver robust SCADA solutions and enhancements.
+ Perform risk assessments, vulnerability scans, andICS-specific cybersecurity evaluations.
+ Configure and administer cyber tools, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems tomonitor and mitigate cyber threats.
+ Generate detailednetwork topology maps, documentation, and cybersecurity reports in support of audits and compliance reviews.
+ Develop, implement, and maintainnetwork and cybersecurity procedures, manuals, test scripts, and disaster recovery plans.
+ Work with internal and external stakeholders toensure regulatory compliancewith standards such as NERC CIP, NIST, or other industry-specific guidelines.
+ Evaluate and recommend newtechnologies and vendor solutionsfor improving SCADA network security posture.
+ Participate inincident response, root cause analysis, and post-event investigations for SCADA-related cybersecurity incidents.
+ Ensure seamless integration of SCADA systems with communication technologies includingcellular, microwave, and telco services.
Required Qualifications:
+ 5+ years of experiencein SCADA, ICS, or control systems engineering with a focus oncybersecurity.
+ Strong understanding ofindustrial communication protocols(e.g., Modbus, DNP3, CIP).
+ Expertise inLAN/WAN network design, configuration, and maintenance (VRF, VXLAN, VLAN, VPN, etc.).
+ Hands-on experience withnetwork security architectures, including firewall configuration and administration.
+ Proficient inrouting protocols, such as EIGRP and BGP.
+ Familiarity withsecurity auditing, risk mitigation, and compliance reporting.
+ Experience withcybersecurity tools, event correlation systems, and intrusion detection/prevention solutions.
+ Working knowledge ofcellular and wireless communication technologies, microwave, and telco services.
+ Strong technical writing skills for creating and maintaining detaileddocumentation, procedures, and security plans.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree inComputer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field.
+ Industry certifications such asGICSP, CISSP, CCNP Security, CompTIA Security+, or similar.
+ Familiarity withSCADA-specific security frameworksand government regulations.
