The Indirect Tax Analyst will report to the Sales & Use Tax Manager and will be a critical member of the tax function of the organization. This role will maintain indirect tax requirements in multiple jurisdictions and will also be involved in process improvement activities. These process improvement activities will be geared toward creating a sustainable model for ongoing timely and accurate compliance while limiting tax exposure and risk.
+ Research and conclude indirect tax advice for key stakeholders and business partners, including tax compliance advice to Burns & McDonnell project teams.
+ Communicate daily with the Billing and Project teams on internal and external tax inquiries.
+ Maintain a deep understanding of the organization’s indirect use tax software, including the interaction of the indirect use tax software with other enterprise business solutions.
+ Assist with testing and implementation of software and automation updates.
+ Collaborate with Systems/IT groups to support and improve in-house tax reporting and processes.
+ Review and validate tax exemption certificates.
+ Accurately reconcile indirect general ledger tax accounts.
+ Prepare, review, and file accurate indirect tax returns.
+ Research and respond to indirect tax notices and audits from various taxing authorities.
+ Conduct all other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and 4 years of relevant experience. Extra credit may be given for public accounting experience.
+ Strong understanding of state and local tax regulations, including sales and use tax laws.
+ Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
+ Strong analytical skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
+ Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
+ Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
