*JOB SUMMARY* Under the supervision of a Nurse Leader and the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Certified Patient Care Tech 4 is responsible for performing specific duties that support patient care, which includes direct and indirect patient care activities that are essential to providing a safe and efficient care environment. This position performs selected interventions and activities that contribute to providing comprehensive care to patients in accordance with all existing regulatory and hospital standards, policies, and procedures. In addition, along with the care team, this position is responsible for ensuring a positive patient experience. This role performs in a high activity work environment with multiple priorities and necessitates flexibility in scheduling. *This role requires CPCT/A, EMT or CMA certification and is considered an advanced PCT resource for their assigned unit.* *Minimum Requirements* *Education* · Successfully completed an Accredited Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A)*OR*Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)*OR*Medical Assistant (CMA) Training Course recognized by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). * Must participate in and successfully complete HHC approved PCT Preceptor training within 90 days of hire or transfer *Experience* * At least one year of acute care nursing assistant experience required. * Ability to perform the requirements of the Patient Care Tech 3 job. *Licensure, Certification, Registration* * Must have at time of hire and maintain thereafter at least one of the following Certifications: o Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) o Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) o Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) * Has mastered the competencies required for precepting * Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date. *Language Skills* * Must be able to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information in English. *Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements * * Basic cardiac life support. * EPIC experience. * Basic math skills. * Basic computer skills. * Strong demonstrated ability to act as a formal preceptor during taught curriculum and as part of the onboarding process for new Patient Care Techs, utilizing the competencies outlined in the PCT Preceptor Checklist. * Strong ability to represent work unit, as a member of an ongoing workgroup. Must be able to act as a role model and unit expert for initiatives, training, questions, etc. related to the workgroup’s area of specialization, for example skin, falls, geriatrics, general safety, governance. * Strong demonstrated ability to use skillful communication with members of the healthcare delivery team and with patients. Uses communication skills to foster a healthy work environment and facilitate positive patient outcomes and experience. * Demonstrates advanced competence, including the knowledge and behaviors needed to meet patient needs, champion specialty areas and act as a resource to colleagues. * Strong ability to read and understand medical terminology. * Strong lifting techniques. * Strong demonstrated ability to educate, train and assist new Patient Care Techs and less experienced colleagues to help them achieve proficiency of the skills and behavior needed to be successful in their role. * Ability to coach peers and provide feedback. * Phlebotomy technology skills. * 12 Lead EKG/telemetry lead placement skills. * Recognizes and respects diversity. Utilizes appropriate resources in a respectful and nonjudgmental manner. Strong demonstrated knowledge of care for age specific populations. * Strong organizational skills. * Strong demonstrated attention to detail in all aspects of work. * Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in time management, resources and use of supplies. * Excellent ability to manage time and productivity without immediate supervision. * Exceptional customer service skills.
