Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in Klingerstown, Pennyslvania known for their ice cream socials at Klingerstown Lutheran Parish, fishing rodeo, and fireman's parade. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a flexible and dependable Utility Person to support our Breaking Department. This essential team member provides coverage across various roles and tasks, especially during employee breaks, vacations, or absences. The ideal candidate is a quick learner, highly adaptable, and able to step into multiple roles with minimal instruction. As with all roles in our organization, Safety is a Core Value. The Utility Person is expected to consistently follow all safety protocols and help promote a safe and healthy workplace, while also ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards to reduce product and process variability. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Take personal responsibility for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment Adhere to all safety policies and procedures in every job and task Ensure regulatory and company compliance at all times Be proficient and able to perform the following Breaking Department roles with little or no supervision: Machine Loading – Load flats of shell eggs onto the egg transfer machine (Old Line 4/5) Candling – Identify and remove damaged, defective, or dirty eggs per USDA specifications Breaking Machine Operator – Remove shells and inedible egg product using designated machine controls Flat Washer and Pallet Washer – Operate machines to clean and sort flats and pallets Can-Off Area – Fill, seal, and stack containers of liquid product on pallets Transfer Room Floor Person – Move pallets of eggs and other materials to and from designated areas Dock Area – Use a power jack to move shell egg skids from dock to transfer room Inedible Tanker Bay – Monitor machinery, clean tankers, and handle inedible egg product according to procedures Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and sanitation guidelines to maintain SQF Level certification Report any conditions or practices that may affect food safety, product quality, or worker safety Contribute to a positive and productive work atmosphere through teamwork and clear communication Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) Basic reading, writing, and verbal communication skills Basic math proficiency, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and interpret bar graphs Ability to understand and follow oral, written, or diagram instructions Ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized settings Valid Driver’s License Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision Thorough knowledge of Breaking Department operations (6+ months of experience preferred) Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. Able to work in a damp indoor environment throughout the shift Able to use stairs and stand for extended periods Familiar with GMPs, USDA requirements, and food safety regulations Capable of learning and retaining multiple tasks and processes Wears required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including bump cap, earplugs, and steel-toe boots Able to safely and efficiently operate role-specific equipment and tools
