+ **Day Shift: 7:00-3:30pm**
+ **Rotating weekends and holidays**

+ **Location: Loyola Medical Center, Maywood, IL**
About the Job
The Laboratory Department –Microbiology Lab seeks a Lab Support Service Tech willing to in a fast-paced clinical microbiology laboratory processing specimens, performing on demand testing on multiple testing platforms and answering questions from hospital staff. **_Requires a highly motivated,_** **_curious, self-starter,_** **_forward thinking person. The laboratory provides opportunities for growth in the laboratory sciences._**
In this role, the Lab Support Service Tech (Microbiology) will be assigned to the microbiology and molecular pathology section as an entry level laboratory support. The primary responsibilities include the processing of patient specimens, answering the phone in a professional manner, and understanding the laboratory computer system coupled with performing on demand testing on multiple molecular platforms. It is essential that multi-tasking be done in a timely manner with minimum supervision after training.
Here's What you will do
+ Performs assigned duties from the pre-analytical to post-analytical phases of testing according to standard operating procedures. Receives and evaluates all specimens to ensure positive identification and appropriateness of sample. Works with fellow team members to properly triage and efficiently move samples through all phases of testing.
Here is what you will need
Required:
+ High School Diploma
+ Specimen processing and handling, accessioning, clinical lab, and/or other relevant lab or clinical experience.
+ Solid foundation in biology/chemistry
+ Experience in a hospital or laboratory setting
+ Keyboard/data entry experience
Required Skills:
+ Requires telephone skills.
+ Requires basic computer skills
+ Requires strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member including outside of lab
+ Requires ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.

Pay Range: $20.00 – $21.00 per hour
