    Join the MercyOne Genesis Family! We are looking to hire a Lab Technician!

    As a Lab Technician at MercyOne Genesis, you will:

    + Be proficient in the procurement of blood samples via venous and capillary techniques, from patients ranging in age from infant to geriatric.

    + Utilize use of the Laboratory Information System for activating, ordering, and resulting laboratory orders from providers and to result laboratory tests.

    + Educate patients in the proper collection of specimens such as urine, stool and sputum.

    + Review orders from providers, maintaining accuracy in ordering tests; occasionally must call providers' offices to obtain orders.

    + Process specimens in the appropriate way, including looking up specimen requirements, centrifuging and separating as necessary, and storing at the appropriate temperature to maintain sample integrity and testing acceptability.

    + Ready specimens for transfer to reference laboratories, including completing the required paperwork for transfer and ensuring STAT specimens are processed and transported in a timely manner, including calling a STAT courier and completing the necessary paperwork for the transfer.

    + Perform both waived and moderately complex CLIA testing in hematology, urinalysis, and serology areas under the guidance and supervision of an MLT or MT.

    + Keep accurate records, such as temperature monitoring, quality control for all laboratory testing and daily, weekly and monthly maintenance.

    **Schedule** :

    + 6:30am - 5:00pm

    + Rotating weekends

    + Rotating holidays

    **General Requirements** :

    + Less than 1 year experience required

    + Medical Assistant or Certified Phlebotomist preferred

    **Education** :

    + High school plus additional course work up to 1 year

    **Pay Range** :

    + $17.04 - $24.70 per hour

    + Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
