Job Summary and Qualifications
Provides development, organization and ongoing management of diagnostic/imaging services at facilities throughout CMC. Established a continuous improvement work environment that maximizes staff resources, enhances quality patient services and care, and provides appropriate cost controls to ensure the organization’s competitive position in the market place. Responsible for initiating new patient focused services that result in expanding CMC’s capabilities.
Under the general direction of the Executive Director within established departmental policies and procedures, the incumbent performs the following functions:
Direct the operation of the Diagnostic/Imaging Services throughout the hospital and all other satellite locations.
Establishes standards to ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. Manages and ensures currency of standards. Is responsible for maintaining readiness and establishing policies and procedures for compliance with all regulatory agencies including The Joint Commission (TJC), the state, federal and other applicable regulators.
Establishes, maintains and documents policies and procedures. Directs Quality Management program, reviewing data, problem recognition, identifying solutions, implementing corrective actions and assuring compliance to assure standard of care for all areas. Keeps Executive Director informed of activities, needs and problems.
Develops and controls the annual budget. Ensure all departments under the scope of responsibility operate within allocated funds. Makes recommendations for major changes in staffing and services provided by departments.
Responsible for the development of capital equipment budget. Stays informed about new equipment and technology. Reviews specifications and meets with vendors to coordinate the purchase and replacement of equipment and materials.
Works with physicians, administration, and staff to assess department needs and ensure maximum utilization of technology and resources. Develops and implements a planning process, in conjunction with Executive Director that ensures staff, technology and financial resources are available to meet current and future needs across all areas of responsibility.
Determines staffing needs based on utilization, productivity, budget and program needs. Ensures all departments are adequately staffed by managing the daily scheduling of patients to ensure appropriate staff workload. Directly supervises staff or overseas through subordinates.
Interviews and hire applicants in conjunction with the Human Resources Department. Develops a comprehensive orientation plan for new employees. In conjunction with Human Resources, outline scope of authority as well as job responsibilities.
Initiates, makes recommendations and/or approves personnel actions, including but not limited to hiring, transferring, and suspending, discharging, assigning, rewarding or disciplining, involving assigned personnel. Prepares and conducts formal/informal performance evaluations, or job performance improvement plans and recommends appropriate merit increases involving subordinate staff. Develops standards of performance and monitors department performance and affects needed changes.
Provides leadership and management of managers/supervisors. Works in conjunction with Human Resources to provide guidance to managers/supervisors on performance management.
In collaboration with Medical Director, develop strategic initiatives for growth and program development, involving staff as appropriate. Sets priorities, assigns responsibility and meets target deadlines. Develops and implements departmental goals and objectives. Manages the department Quality Assurance Program including reviewing data, problem recognition, identifying solutions, implementing and assuring compliance for all departments under scope of assignment.
Oversees the activities of the Billing/Accounts Receivable Department as they relate to areas of responsibility, insuring adherence to compliance issues while meeting established accounts receivable goals.
Ensures confidentiality of management, patient information and CMC matters. Develops and maintains positive working relationships and communication with employees, management, physicians, clients and the public. Acts as a liaison with hospital personnel including physicians. Works collaboratively with other departments to improve customer satisfaction while maintaining the safety of patients and employees.
Conducts regular scheduled Diagnostic Imaging staff and supervisory meetings. Establishes and maintains communications with the department and other hospital departments. Develops relationships with community agencies, groups, and professional agencies as is appropriate.
Acts as chairperson for the Radiation Safety Committee and to assure radiation protection guidelines are followed for patient and staff safety.
Provides a high degree of technical leadership and direct reports of the CT staff.
Works within policies, procedures and protocols as they relate to the job. Participates in appropriate role in disaster drills, fire drills, fire and other emergency situations. Manages Safety and Infection Control policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for staff in areas of responsibility.
Exercises care in the operation and use of equipment and reference materials. Maintains work area in a clean and organized manner.
Attends meetings, seminars and educational programs.
Performs other related or similar duties as required or directed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
+ Bachelor of Science Degree. Masters preferred.
Experience:
+ Minimum 5 years supervisory/management experience.
+ Proven record of accomplishment in health care system.
Licenses/Certifications:
+ License/Registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT/ASRT) and certifications of assigned specialties.
