The top investor-owned energy company in the US provides a wide range of energy-related products and services to its variety of customers which include renters, residential owners, small and medium sized businesses, commercial, industrial, community affairs, and more. Looking for a Senior Engineer, High Tension to join the Distribution Engineering team and evaluate new service applications for customers seeking high-tension services and assess upgrade and replacement requests for existing customers. Customers request a variety of distributed energy resources such as, battery energy storage applications, in order to interconnect through medium voltage equipment.
In this role, you will provide thorough review, technical feedback, and redlines of design submittals for medium voltage interconnections to ensure system accuracy and utility compliance standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, local regulations) align appropriately with the customer for implementation. Must have experience supporting high tension medium voltage systems and equipment, including transformers, switchgears, relays, and circuit breakers, to identify potential design issues, safety concerns, and constructability challenges proactively and coordinate with engineers and project managers to ensure seamless integration of feedback into final designs. Additionally, you will maintain detailed records of reviews, comments, and iterations for compliance and audit purposes. Looking for an individual who is experienced in power system analysis to perform load flow simulations, short circuit analysis, and stability studies to propose effective solutions. Excellent communication and professionalism is necessary in order to deliver effective updates and project deliverables to customers in a timely manner.

Skills and Requirements
6+ years experience supporting high tension power systems at a transmission or distribution level (includes Medium-voltage or high-voltage equipment, transformers, switchgears, relays, and circuit breakers).
Utility or equipment manufacturing industry experience.
Proficient with power system analysis software such as, PSS/E, CYME, Aspen, or similar, to perform load flow simulation under various system conditions and propose solutions.
Ability to interpret single-line and three-line diagrams, relay coordination, and equipment specifications.
Familiarity with grid interconnection standards and/or utility compliance regulations (NEC, NESC, IEEE, etc.).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to provide detailed technical feedback.
Bachelors Degree in Engineering Understanding of power system interconnection requirements and protection schemes (CT, PT, Zone of Protection, Relay Coordination, etc.)
Experience supporting Energy storage and/or distributed energy resource applications.
Masters Degree null
