Plumbing / Fire Protection Engineer
Tesla is seeking a Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer for the Infrastructure Engineering team. This role is ideal for a licensed PE with a strong background in commercial and manufacturing projects, and a proven track record of leading projects from kickoff through construction/permit quality design. A successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality, code-compliant plumbing and fire protection systems across a variety of sites and projects.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and coordination of plumbing and fire protection systems for Tesla facilities.
Drive the project initiation phase by collaborating with a variety of teams to define scope, design criteria, schedule and cost.
Develop construction-ready documentation including drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations.
Perform system sizing, pipe routing, and pressure loss calculations for domestic water, sanitary, storm, and fire protection systems.
Ensure all designs are compliant with applicable codes and standards, including NFPA, and local jurisdictional requirements.
Support construction activities including submittal review, RFI responses, and field surveys.

Skills and Requirements
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States.
6+ years of experience in plumbing and fire protection design, with a strong focus on commercial and manufacturing projects.
Demonstrated ability to independently lead projects from kickoff through construction-level design.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation tools
Strong knowledge of building codes, design standards, and industry best practices.
Excellent communication and coordination skills across disciplines
Experience with high-purity water, process piping, or specialty systems used in industrial environments. null
