    Description

    Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our Data Center Engineering Operations Team. This dedicated group works to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that supports Amazon Web Services. Specifically, this team ensures that the data center's Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems operate at 100% availability while providing first-class customer service to the teams and groups within the data centers.

     

    AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.     You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.     Key job responsibilities

    The Water Infrastructure Manager is responsible for the following key duties:

    Leadership and Oversight

     

    - Manage a team of Water Infrastructure Technicians and Chief Engineers responsible for water systems across PDX data centers

     

    - Establish operational standards and procedures for water infrastructure management

     

    - Ensure compliance with Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) regulations and local municipal requirements

     

    - Coordinate with regional environmental engineers (REEs) on water-related compliance matters

     

    - Coordinate with Field Engineering (FE) on equipment related matters

     

    - Coordinate with AWS Legal team on environmental compliance

     

    - Coordinate across AMER to support the implementation of water treatment equipment and teams in other regions

     

    Water Efficiency and Sustainability

     

    - Drive initiatives to improve Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE) metrics across the PDX cluster

     

    - Implement and oversee water conservation strategies

     

    - Monitor and report on water consumption and efficiency metrics

     

    - Lead continuous improvement efforts for water systems

     

    Technical Management

    - Oversee maintenance and operation of critical water systems including:

    - Retention ponds and stormwater management systems

     

    - Oxidizer systems for water treatment

     

    - Ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis systems

     

    - Manage vendor relationships for water treatment equipment and services

     

    - Manage vendor contracts

     

    - Manage cost savings and insourcing where necessary

     

    Compliance and Reporting

     

    - Ensure all required water sampling and testing is performed according to regulations

     

    - Maintain proper documentation for regulatory compliance

     

    - Coordinate with Environmental teams on water management requirements

     

    - Ensure Preventative Maintenance is completed within compliance

     

    Emergency Response

     

    - Develop and maintain emergency response procedures for water-related incidents

     

    - Coordinate with Facility Operations Center (FOC) during water-related emergencies

     

    - Ensure proper training of staff on emergency protocols

     

    Budget and Resource Management

     

    - Manage budget for water infrastructure maintenance and improvements

     

    - Ensure adequate staffing and resources for water management activities

     

    - Plan for capital improvements to water systems

    Basic Qualifications

    - Water and Environmental Technology Associate Degree

    - 4+ years of data center or mission critical facilities (example: hospital, military facility, public safety facility, etc.) experience

     

    - Posses current certifications or licenses: Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification, Water Distribution System Operator Certification or Backflow Prevention Device Tester Certification

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

     

    - Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering

     

    - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (with focus on fluid systems)

     

    - Environment Science degree

     

    - Chemistry degree
