Description
Our trusted client is seeking an experienced Sr. Buyer consultant for a long-term engagement. In this role, you will oversee procurement activities for vehicle components and systems, ensuring compliance with contractual, pricing, and regulatory standards. This is a long-term contract position that offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with engineering and design teams while managing supplier relationships and sourcing strategies. This hybrid position is located in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
The day-to-day responsibilities include:
• Negotiate and source vehicle components and systems to meet requirements for new vehicle development builds.
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to evaluate rapid component design changes and assess sourcing and delivery impacts.
• Ensure adherence to international trade compliance regulations and complete required price analysis packages.
• Manage supplier agreements, including bailment terms, development contracts, and intellectual property provisions.
• Onboard new suppliers and verify completion of all required documentation.
• Maintain and update preferred supplier lists and commodity-specific scorecards.
• Conduct sourcing strategy reviews for critical items and obtain necessary approvals for purchase orders.
• Monitor supplier performance, resolve open issues, and mitigate risks.
• Lead communication efforts to keep stakeholders informed, including suppliers, internal teams, and management.
• Track key metrics such as requisition closure rates, purchase orders, cost performance, and invoice resolutions.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following skill set:
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement or related fields.
• Proficiency in SAP and other procurement systems.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage supplier agreements.
• Comprehensive knowledge of international trade compliance regulations.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering and design.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills for effective supplier and team coordination.
• Ability to analyze pricing and ensure fair and reasonable cost determinations.
