Description

We are actively seeking an Attorney to join our client's Legal team located in Plano, Texas. In this role, you will play a crucial part in their logistics operations by providing expert legal advice, particularly in transportation, warehouse, and maritime claims, disputes, and insurance. This role involves internal and external communication, drafting legal documents, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert interpretation and explanation of relevant laws, rules, regulations, and policies related to logistics claims

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documents relating to different claims

• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, insurance brokers, carriers, third-party administrators, and legal counsel

• Determine the validity and coverage of claims based on detailed data analysis

• Deliver legal advice to internal stakeholders for efficient resolution of claims and complaints

• Keep track of legislative and regulatory changes, recommending appropriate action when necessary

• Develop and distribute important reports and analyses, including claim reports for management

• Promote legal compliance and best practices throughout the business operations

• Conduct training sessions and provide training materials on key legal areas to the team

• Review, analyze, and negotiate contractual agreements with customers, shippers, consignees, or carriers within company guidelines

• Collaborate with External Claims Adjusters such as cargo/freight forwarders insurance carriers in resolving claims issues

• Assist in the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for logistics processes and claims

• Prepare and implement claims litigation strategies, including settlements and insurance coverage limits

• Work diligently towards the resolution of claims files and represent the company in arbitrations, mediations, or trials as necessary.

Requirements • Must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school

• Must be a licensed attorney in good standing

• Proven experience in drafting contracts, with an emphasis on the logistics industry

• Profound knowledge of law regulations, particularly as they pertain to global logistics

• Familiarity with insurance claims and arbitration hearings

• Experience in mediation and litigation

• Comprehensive understanding of the logistics industry and its regulatory environment

• The ability to manage and advise on complex legal issues within the logistics industry

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal matters clearly and concisely

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically

• High degree of detail orientation and integrity
