    Department Summary

    The Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact is an ambitious initiative designed to fast-track scientific discoveries into innovations that improve the quality of life for people in Oregon, the nation, and the world. The campus creates the intellectual infrastructure to establish Oregon as a center for both research and development, making Oregon a place where companies can start up and grow. The Knight Campus will reshape the higher education landscape in Oregon by training the next generations of scientists, forging tighter ties with industry and entrepreneurs, and creating new educational opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students.

     

    The Human Performance Alliance (Alliance) aims to transform human health on a global scale through the discovery and translation of the biological principles underlying athletic performance. The design team behind the Alliance is focused on accelerating high-impact advances in human performance by leveraging the rapidly advancing fields of bioengineering, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, genetics, molecular biology, imaging, and regenerative medicine.

    Position Summary

    The Knight Campus encourages qualified candidates to apply to the Postdoctoral Scholar Open Pool for the Human Performance Alliance Innovation Hub. This is a full-time position that offers a great opportunity for performing highly interdisciplinary and cutting-edge research; career development through one-on-one mentorship; membership in a large scientific community; and a collaborative and vibrant research community and involvement in setting up the culture of a newly established Alliance.

     

    If successful, you will conduct research and technical activities related to the Human Performance Alliance; conduct data analysis and collaborate on reporting findings and discoveries in written and verbal form; and assist in managing, maintaining, and providing technical expertise for the Human Performance Alliance lab equipment, protocols, and programs.

    In this position, you will focus on one (or more) of the following focus areas:

    • AI-based models of athlete performance.

    • Models of running mechanics using wearable sensors.

    • Models of bone health in running populations.

    • Models of tissue stress and strain in athletes.

    • Models of health and performance in female athletes.

    • Models of athlete performance in response to stress.

     

    Postdocs are limited duration, funding contingent appointments for one year with a possible annual renewal for up to two additional years.

    Minimum Requirements

    • PhD in a field relevant to one of the focus areas.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Expertise in one of the following areas: Environmental or Performance Physiology, Machine Learning, Motion Analysis, Multiscale Modeling, Musculoskeletal Modeling, Wearable Sensors
