Our reputable cement contractor client is seeking an estimator to join their team. The main responsibility would be to analyze project requirements, bid documents, and field applications by gathering proposals and doing electronic quantitative take-offs.
Responsibilities
+ Examine bid documents, specifications, and other project documents to assess if projects are a good fit and worth an estimate.
+ Select advantageous deals by evaluating offers and quotes.
+ Establish, update, and monitor all project budgets and schedules before the preconstruction conference or handoff meeting is held.
+ Ensure that formal internal pre-project planning sessions are conducted for every job and the project is planned and managed appropriately.
+ Participate in all pre-construction meetings with the Project Superintendent, General Contractor, Owner, and Architect.
+ Assist as needed in the solution of difficult construction and management problems or discussions with Owners, Architects, Engineers, and General Contractors on project problems.
+ Prepare complete, accurate, and timely estimates per quantitative take-offs for construction projects, where required, based on project drawings and specifications, and administer during the construction process.
+ Act as a point of contact between General Contractors, Owners, Engineers, Architects, Vendors, and Suppliers.
+ Build and maintain long-term relationships with key vendors.
Essential Skills
+ 2-5 years of commercial estimating experience.
+ 2-year degree, preferably related to construction or civil engineering, or 2+ years of experience as a commercial construction estimator.
+ Ability to read construction blueprints.
+ Comfortable with numbers and technology, perform complex analysis of collected data.
+ Well-organized, dependable, and have attention to detail.
+ Familiarity with computer programs such as PlanGrid, BidScreen, Procore, and Building Connected.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering.
+ Ability to perform takeoff and submittals.
+ Commercial estimating experience.
+ Concrete experience.
Work Environment
This person will spend a majority of their time in the office with occasional site visits as needed. Majority of job sites are within a 2-hour radius of the office. The work week will generally be 40-50 hours, with up to 60 hours during busy seasons. The company offers a family-oriented work environment with great tenure, celebrating 75 years in business. The estimator will work directly with and be trained by the Sr. Project Manager/Estimator and will eventually take over for the PM/Estimator once he leaves the workforce. The company offers paid benefits, year-end bonuses, and profit sharing.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $80000.00/hr.
