    Overview

     

    The Canteen Program Coordinator (CPC) will be responsible for coordinating our weekly feeding program. This program is a vital part of our service to the community, and it will be maintained at a high standard.

    Responsibilities

    Program Responsibilities

    + Coordinate all aspects of the weekly canteen feeding program. This includes food ordering, food preparation, volunteer management, statistical recording, and meal delivery.

    + In consultation with Supervisor, prepare and place food orders for the canteen program including the Saturday program. Orders should be placed timely to work with our available storage. Our orders should be cost effective, and receipts must be turned in promptly on the day of ordering.

    + Be the first point of contact for the Saturday team. This includes making sure they have needed supplies, ordering food, have a prepared space for the Saturday program to be successful, and work with team leaders to answer questions they may have.

    + To run the program efficiently, review current systems and processes involved in the program. This includes meal preparation, food ordering, volunteer management, and delivery.

    + Coordinate with all volunteers involved in the canteen feeding program. This includes recruiting new volunteers and groups, managing volunteers while on site or in the field for delivery, tracking volunteer hours for statistical reporting, volunteer recognition, and making sure all Salvation Army policies are being followed.

    + Serve as the primary driver for our delivery days, food pickups, and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    + Maintain the condition of the Corps vehicles which includes the Corps vans and the DHQ assigned canteen. Duties include properly cleaning the vehicles after use, making sure vehicles are full of gas, taking vehicles to the mechanic for repairs, and safe keeping of the keys. All expenses will be approved by Supervisor prior to any work or service performed on the vehicles.

    + Pick up food orders from the food bank and other locations where food has been ordered or donated.

    + Always wear Salvation Army identity wear while in public delivering or picking up food. Because of this, the CPC needs to very aware they are always representing the larger organization in their actions, speech, and conduct. All conduct must represent The Salvation Army in the highest standard. Identity wear will be provided.

    + Assist with seasonal activities and EDS as requested.

    + Other duties assigned by supervisor.

     

    General Office

     

    + Maintain good and accurate record keeping utilizing digital and paper filing systems.

    + Follow all Salvation Army KeepSAfe policies.

    + As an office professional, this position will be professional and timely in responding to email and requests, they will be courteous in their communication in dealing with people, and they will maintain a clean office space.

    + Be a point of contact for phone calls and visitors in our building when assigned.

    + Be an active part of The Salvation Army team in Spring Valley. This includes involvement in Corps events as requested, promoting other areas of our work, and promoting the mission of The Salvation Army.

    + Attend assigned staff meetings and trainings and actively contribute to these meetings.

    Qualifications

    + High School or GED required

    + Must have a valid Driver’s License and be approved to drive Salvation army vehicles.

    + Must be willing and able to drive a 12-passenger van

    + Strong management, organizational, and supervisory skills

    + Ability to work independently and relate professionally with other staff

    + Above average communication skills

    + Multilingual in English/Creole or French preferred

    + Manage information in a confidential manner

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and have computer skills
