Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer for a 12-month contract-to-hire position within our Controls Software team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in PLC programming, FactoryTalk, and Studio5000, with a strong emphasis on robotics, particularly in palletizing and de-palletizing. This role requires significant travel within the United States during the first year, with reduced travel in subsequent years.

Responsibilities

+ Write PLC code from scratch, with 4+ years of experience as a primary responsibility.

+ Utilize FactoryTalk and Studio5000 for control system programming.

+ Read and make red lines in AutoCAD for prints (no design work required).

+ Work with robotic systems, specifically for palletizing and de-palletizing tasks.

+ Collaborate with a team of engineers during travel.

+ Travel 25%-50% during the first year, with travel primarily within the United States.

+ Clock hours as soon as travel begins, with overtime and holiday pay provisions.

+ Log expenses and manage reimbursements during the contract period.

Essential Skills

+ 1-5 years of PLC programming experience in Rockwell/Studio5000 systems.

+ Ability to read and make red lines in AutoCAD electrical prints.

+ Proficiency in FactoryTalk.

+ 1-3 years of robotics experience, specifically with palletizing and de-palletizing, using either Fanuc or other systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with Ignition or other SCADA systems.

+ Knowledge of vision systems, Wonderware, Siemens PLCs, and electrical design.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a modern, up-to-date headquarters facility with large windows and collaboration stations. The shop floor is clean and temperature-controlled, providing a comfortable workspace. While not traveling, you can expect to spend time both on the shop floor and behind a desk. Travel will always be in groups, never solo, and accommodations are made to ensure time off after extended travel periods. Flexible working hours and the potential to work from home are recognized and respected, though not immediately offered.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $44.00/hr.
