Description of Work Unit
The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition has 32 faculty and adjunct members and 23 research associates and administrative staff, ~600 undergraduate students and offers undergraduate degrees in Nutrition and Food Science, Hospitality Management and Fermentation Science and Technology. The department also offers MS and PhD degrees in Nutrition Science, Community Nutrition and Food Science and Safety and currently has ~75 graduate students. Department research is supported by federal grants from NIH , USDA , foundations, industry and two endowments that support a faculty chair and the Lillian Fountain-Smith Nutrition Conference hosted by the department. Research has focused on childhood obesity, community nutrition among limited resource audiences, molecular and metabolic nutrition targeted at chronic disease prevention, bioactive food components, and food safety. The department’s Extension faculty is responsible for numerous creative, high impact educational and engagement programs throughout the state, including EFNEP . A MPH program focus area in Public Health Nutrition within the School of Public Health provides new collaborative opportunities. The department offers an accredited B.S. dietetics program and an M.S. coordinated dietetic internship program.
Position Summary
The Dietetics Program Coordinator is a part-time position responsible for providing coordination and administrative support for the Coordinated Master’s Program in Dietetics ( CMPD ), the Didactic Program in Dietetics ( DPD ), and teaches a foodservice management practicum course.
This position leverages relationships with key campus partners and industry professionals, including preceptors for the CMPD supervised practice sites, and supervisors for the foodservice management practicum sites, to ensure commitments to students are executed, and dietetic program goals are reached. This position also supports the undergraduate DPD with administrative support and teaches a 1-credit foodservice management practicum course. The Dietetics Program Coordinator reports directly to the Director of the Coordinated Master’s Program in Dietetics.
Required Job Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in health-related field
+ Two or more years’ work experience in clinical nutrition, food service management, community and/or public health nutrition
+ Current registered dietitian nutritionist
+ Demonstrated management of multiple projects and/or programs
Preferred Job Qualifications
+ Graduate degree in nutrition or related field
+ Experience directing and teaching students
+ Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills, follow-through, and attention to detail
+ Experience building and maintaining professional collaborative relationships

Essential Duties

+ Manage supervised practice rotation tracking for all students to include ensuring all ACEND competencies are met at the appropriate level for each student.
+ Ensure all onboarding and offboarding is completed for students, preceptors, and program coordinators.
+ Submit and maintain all program records and forms including records of all CMPD verification statements.
+ Organize all program meetings including scheduling meeting spaces in-person and virtually.
+ Organize and attend supervised practice site visits, preceptor meetings, and all CMPD student meetings.
+ Organize and maintain all program necessary data.
+ Support program accreditation needs.
+ Regularly communicate with students, preceptors and program director.
+ Enhance Departmental interaction with preceptors and students, and contributing to program growth, planning and evaluation.
+ Create linkages with community agencies and organizations to expand supervised practice placement opportunities for CMPD students.
+ Ensure the Department is current with all University internship and practicum records and forms.
+ Provide additional program-related administrative support as required.

+ Teach FSHN386A (Practicum – Food Service Management) each semester to include creating and maintaining all instructional materials for the course and assigning grades.
+ Create linkages with community agencies and organizations to expand practicum placement opportunities for FSHN students.
+ Coordinate existing and develop new student placements for FSHN386A (Practicum – Food Service Management).
+ Conducts site visits for new placements, and orient site supervisors to FSHN 386a.
+ Ensure the Department is current with all University internship and practicum records and forms.

+ Maintain registered dietitian credentials.
+ Participate in CHHS Internship Coordinator Meetings and collaborate with other CHHS Internship Coordinators.
