    Job Summary:

    The AHA Training Coordinator is responsible for assuring WMCHealth meets all the criteria as a Training Center (TC) as established by the American Heart Association (AHA) for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Life Support (PALS) training courses.This position participates in coordinating teaching activities with AHA faculty and Nursing Professional Development across all campuses of WMCHealth. This includes the development of course schedules and instructor training courses, providing course materials, monitoring program initiatives, course, and program evaluation, and providing instructor feedback.

    Responsibilities:

    + The day-to-day management of the Training Center, Training Sites, and instructors; Providing aligned instructors and Training Sites with consistent and timely communication of any new or updated information about National, Regional, or Training Center policies, procedures, course content, or course administration that could potentially affect an instructor while carrying out his or her responsibilities.

    + The AHA Training Coordinator serves as the principal resource for information, support, and quality control for all AHA Instructors aligned with the WMCHealth.

    + Scheduling, coordinating, and teaching BLS certification, recertification and skills checks.

    + The AHA Training Coordinator is will maintain records and ensure compliance with AHA requirements.

    + Responsible for the scheduling, coordination, design, and implementation of AHA courses offered by WMCHealth’s AHA Training Center.

    + Maintains appropriate records as required to be a training center with the AHA, including records of all AHA instructors affiliated with WMChealth’s AHA Training Center by using the AHA instructor network.

    + Provides updates to the training network with current information on AHA courses, science guidelines, policies, and procedures.

    + Maintains adequate course equipment and supplies for AHA courses.

    + Responsible for quality assurance & improvement: Ensures instructors are monitored yearly by Training Center Faculty.

    + Reporting: Submits all training reports and AHA requests by the stated deadline. Completes Training Center administrative Self-Review once a year to evaluate overall status. Renews Training Center. Compiles attendance and course data reports for WMChealth’s AHA Training Center annual report.

    + Maintains AHA Instructor Files to make sure Provider and Teaching Cards are current. Issues instructor cards once verified that AHA instructor requirements have been met.

    + Coordinates and participates in the Training Center’s site reviews.

    + Manages instructors, training sites, and course rosters. Submits the proper pay documentation to administrative assistant and payments to cashier’s office at WMCHealth.

    + Monthly completes and forwards the Training Center Activity Report directly to the Vice President of Nursing Professional Development.

    + Respond to student inquires promptly and accurately, providing guidance and support to enhance their learning experience for AHA courses.

    + Deliver high-quality customer service to students, instructors, and other stakeholders, addressing issues and concerns efficiently for AHA courses.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Experience:

    Must have two years of experience as a Basic Life Support instructor. Previous experience as a training center coordinator, preferred.

    Education:

    Associates degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred in a health-related field program.
