    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Marathon Petroleum Company LP, a recognized leader in the energy sector, is seeking applications for an hourly Operator Technician role at its Dickinson Renewable Facility in Dickinson, ND. This position offers immediate responsibilities along with a comprehensive benefits package. The Dickinson Facility operates 24/7, year-round, with operators working 12-hour shifts on a rotating day/night schedule. Overtime may be required based on business needs.

     

    Candidates must comply with a strict drug and alcohol policy and will undergo a six-month performance evaluation period. Additionally, applicants will need to pass a pre-employment written test, a hands-on work demonstration, a drug and alcohol screen, a background check, and a physical examination.

     

    Successful candidates are expected to start employment on August 4, 2025, and will be required to complete at least two years in their current role before becoming eligible to pursue other internal opportunities within the company. This policy ensures that employees have the time and opportunity to develop their skills and make meaningful contributions to their position.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Uphold and demonstrate Marathon Petroleum Company's core values in all aspects of work.

    + Wear required personal protective equipment, including a self-contained breathing apparatus, and actively participate in emergency response activities.

    + Learn and become proficient in refining process operations and qualify for various process-related tasks.

    + Conduct periodic rounds during each shift, including monitoring units, isolating equipment, collecting stream samples, and completing work permits.

    + Gain a strong understanding of refining process operations and tank farm product movements and qualify for tank farm duties. Responsibilities include monitoring tank levels and transfers, gauging tanks, isolating equipment, collecting tank samples, and writing work permits.

    + Identify and respond to process upsets and emergency situations, including firefighting, equipment isolation, and evacuation as necessary.

    + Maintain assigned work areas in a clean and organized manner.

    + Perform other tasks as directed.

    Minimum qualifications:

    + High school diploma or equivalent is required.

    + Valid driver's license is required.

    + At least 18 years of age is required.

    + Basic skills in math, reading, writing, computers, and verbal communication

    + Willingness to participate in fire and emergency response activities

    + Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed

    + Capability to learn complex material related to refinery operations

    + Physically fit to perform essential job functions

    + Compliance with a strict drug and alcohol policy

    + Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous experience as an operator or in a petrochemical plant

    • Relevant education or training, such as:

    o Two years of vocational/technical training in petrochemical, manufacturing, or a related field, or

    o Two years of equivalent work experience in process operations or maintenance, or

    o Five years of stable work experience in a light industrial or commercial setting

    Pay/Benefits:

    Starting pay rate $44.90 per hour.
