Job Description
BAE Systems Jacksonville Ship Repair is currently constructing a new 25,000 ton capacity ship lift and associated land level drydock facility, to be operational mid-2025. Due to the increased capacity and capabilities, our commercial vessel and yacht program is expanding and have an exciting opening for a dynamic, proactive and customer- focused Technical Sales Specialist to join our team.
As Technical Sales Specialist you will be pivotal in driving business growth by connecting with potential customers in the commercial ship repairs and yacht markets, securing opportunities, while also supporting in project execution, driving sales to new levels.
In this role you will be interacting with potential, new and existing customers and will build and maintain professional relationships with industry representatives. You possess outstanding people skills, a genuine positive attitude and a charisma that our customers naturally connect with.
You have a fundamental and technical understanding of merchant marine vessels and/ or yachts, vessel equipment and vessel systems and the industry as a whole and have had extensive professional exposure to the ship repair industry, by either direct employment with shipyards, ship owners, operators and managers, or a combination thereof.
As a BAE Systems commercial ship and yacht repairs program representative you will travel to support our team at conferences and tradeshows, to perform ship checks, and to meet with customers.
As Technical Sales Specialist you do not shy away from taking the lead in active projects, where in a project management role, you will be driving sales through project growth, which includes developing scope, estimate costs, strategize pricing and directly sell our services and products to our customers.
Additionally, you can lead the development of professional and market appropriate estimates and drive various internal teams in the capture phase to deliver quality inputs that you will utilize to develop the highest standard of professional proposals.

Key Responsibilities:
+ Customer Relationship Development - Proactively identify and engage with potential customers in the commercial and yacht markets to generate leads, build relationships, and secure Requests for Proposals and Quotations for the shipyard to bid on.
+ Opportunity Management - Collaborate with internal teams to ensure sales opportunities are effectively captured, tracked, and positioned for success.
+ Capture Management - Support the development of winning strategies for bids and proposals, working closely with estimating, production, programs and the program's leadership.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Education
Bachelor's degree
Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience in the shipyard industry, preferably in a estimating, sales, project management, or technical role
Proficiency with Estimating, CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics) and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira).
Proven experience engaging with domestic and international maritime customers, including sales negotiations and technical consultations
Skills
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first mindset to build and maintain client relationships
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and technical documentation, including ship repair specifications and contracts
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with meticulous attention to detail in managing sales and project timelines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to problem-solve creatively in high-stakes sales scenarios and remain calm under pressure during customer negotiations
Requirements
Valid driver s license and clean driving record
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends based on customer needs
Ability to travel (up to 50% of the time) to meet with customers, attend conferences, and participate in trade shows
Ability to work in a shipyard environment, adhering to safety protocols and physical demands (e.g., standing for extended periods, working outdoors)
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Preferred Education
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline
Maritime- Specific Training or Certifications, such as Certified Sales Professional, or equivalent
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $73778 - $125422
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
