    Responsibilities:

    GENERAL PURPOSE:

    The Associate Director of Development, Regional Advancement is a critical role within the University's fundraising team, reporting to the Senior Director of Development for Regional Advancement. This position is responsible for driving the University's philanthropic efforts by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts of $100,000 or more, as well as contributions to the George Eastman Circle when appropriate.

     

    The Associate Director will support the University’s strategic priorities and initiatives by working both independently and collaboratively with colleagues across University Advancement, leadership, faculty, staff, and volunteers. The role involves developing tailored strategies to engage donors, soliciting contributions, and ensuring proper stewardship to foster lasting relationships with alumni and other benefactors.

     

    Managing a portfolio of approximately 125 major gift prospects, the Associate Director is expected to conduct at least 125 donor visits annually to meet engagement and solicitation goals. This role requires extensive travel throughout the United States to build meaningful connections with prospects and donors.

     

    The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to collaborate, a commitment to achieving results, and a deep understanding of gift fundraising practices. This position provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of the University's advancement mission.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Fundraising

    + Maintain and cultivate a portfolio of 125 major gift prospects

    + Create a major gift pipeline to ensure aggressive team metrics are exceeded

    + Discover and qualify new major gift prospects

    + Effectively manage multiple campaign and volunteer activities

    Fundraising strategy

    + Create strategies for and solicit donors capable of contributing large major gifts to the University, including gifts supporting the capital campaign.

    + Responsible for planning, managing, executing, and stewardship strategy for each prospect.

    Prospect Management

    + Travel within designated regions to initiate and/or strengthen relationships with major gift prospects.

    + Travel will include working with key volunteers, faculty, university leadership, parents and alumni.

    + Collaboration with Advancement colleagues to research and identify new major gift prospects annually.

    Strategic Planning

    + Works closely with internal and external partners to secure the resources necessary to achieve a vision outlined by university leadership.

    + Collaborates with Senior Leaders, Deans, Department Chairs, Volunteers, and key faculty to effectively manage and create prospect strategies to promote development efforts that focus on school priorities.

    Other Duties as Assigned

    + Due to the fluid nature of the University’s Advancement’s projects and priorities, other assignments arise on a frequent basis. These projects will be assigned on an individual basis, with communication among all University advancement and alumni relations staff to ensure successful completion.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required:

    + Bachelor’s degree

    + A minimum of five years of development experience at a college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Candidate must demonstrate a track record of success in individual fundraising, and experience in cultivating and soliciting prospects of $50,000 or more.

    + Other attributes needed are the ability to: plan, implement, and analyze alumni solicitations; work effectively with alumni, faculty, leadership, and community members; ability to work in a team environment; ability to set goals strategically and oversee execution with persistence.

    + The successful candidate will have strong computer skills and experience in Microsoft Office software and be able to learn OASIS prospect management system.

    + The Associate Director must be flexible, have the ability to maintain a high energy level, and a desire to work on a high-performing team.

    + Excellent interpersonal communication-verbal, written and organizational skills are required
