    Job Summary

    The Accountant II performs intermediate-level accounting functions, including preparing journal entries, conducting reconciliations, and supporting financial reporting processes. This role is responsible for analyzing financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and assisting with budgeting and audit preparation. The Accountant II works closely with internal departments, vendors, and auditors to maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial records and improve financial operations.

    Essential Functions

    + Prepares and records complex journal entries, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, expense accruals, fixed assets, depreciation, and prepaid amortization.

    + Performs monthly reconciliations for cash, investments, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities.

    + Assists with the preparation of financial statements, variance analysis, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

    + Reviews financial transactions, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.

    + Works with internal and external auditors by preparing schedules, documentation, and reconciliations for financial and compliance audits.

    + Assists with tax filings, including sales and use tax, property tax, and other regulatory reporting requirements.

    + Supports payroll processing and ensures proper allocation of expenses across financial statements.

    + Analyzes and resolves discrepancies in financial data, identifying areas for process improvements and efficiencies.

    + Utilizes accounting software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and reporting tools to track and manage financial information.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    + Complies with all policies and standards.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required

    + 3-5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or related roles required

    + Experience with financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, or budget analysis in a healthcare or corporate environment preferred

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    + Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.

    + Proficiency in financial analysis, reconciliations, and variance reporting.

    + Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

    + Experience with accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external auditors.

    + Problem-solving skills and ability to identify financial discrepancies and recommend solutions.

    Licenses and Certifications

    + Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or progress toward certification required
