**Position Title:** Maintenance Field Technician I-V (Pump Shop) (DOT-PHMSA)

Position Purpose:

This position performs maintenance tasks to repair and maintain plant equipment and machinery, including motors, valves, turbines, pumps, compressors, and fans.

Essential Functions:

+ General knowledge of shop equipment including, but not limited to sandblaster, belt sander, hydraulic press ironworker, overhead cranes, and solvent cleaning tanks.

+ General knowledge of materials suitable for use in oxygen service.

+ Assist with plant equipment rebuilds.

+ General knowledge of bearing applications, installation practices and recommended fit tolerances.

+ General knowledge in sealants and gasket applications and their limitations.

Qualifications:

+ A mechanical aptitude.

+ Associate degree in mechanical maintenance; or

+ High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 2 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, such as pump or valve repair, auto/diesel mechanics, or machining.

+ Good understanding and experience in the repair of steam turbines, gearboxes, pumps, compressors, and a variety of valves.

+ Knowledge and experience in mechanical seals, using precision measuring tools and interpreting mechanical equipment drawings.

+ Able to successfully complete pressure safety valve repair and testing; and complete the balancing rotating assemblies and components training through company provided hands on experience and book usage.

+ Proficient with personal computers.

+ A valid driver’s license.

+ Resume required.

+ Able to perform close work, communicate effectively with others, present information in a clear, concise manner and follow verbal and written instructions.

+ Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.

+ This is a Department of Transportation (DOT) (PHMSA).

+ May occasionally be required to work rotating shifts.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

Requires continuous walking/standing and hand coordination; frequent hand grip of 45 pounds and climbing stairs and ladders; occasional pushing and pulling up to 35 pounds, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, reaching above and below shoulder level; and occasional sitting, crawling, lifting 50 pounds from knee to shoulder high. Requires continuous use of tools and occasional turning of valves and use of foot controls. The majority of the incumbent’s shift is spent indoors. Occasionally requires working at heights from 10 to 100 feet, which requires the use of safety equipment, including a harness, in accordance with ANSI Z359 standards, and in high climbing areas on grating, ladders, scaffolding, and other areas requiring use of safety equipment. Continuously exposed to noise; frequently exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, chemicals, and extreme heat and cold, and occasionally exposed to vibration, poor ventilation, and confined areas. Incumbent is required to wear dust masks, respirators and full face Scott Air Paks when necessary. Requires good finger dexterity, good binocular vision, good color vision and hearing, and ability to speak.

**Wage:** $40.75 - $57.37 per hour
