Job Description
Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for a Distinguished Associate Professor or Professor and Director of the PhD Program in Psychology to begin Fall 2025.

This is a tenured faculty position and an administrative appointment as Associate Professor and Director of the PhD in Psychology Program (10.5-month position). Due to administrative duties, a reduced teaching load (2 classes per semester) is offered. Salary and startup packages will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications. Primary duties will include teaching; administering the inaugural research doctoral program in Psychology; mentoring students; conducting and publishing research; seeking and securing extramural funding; and providing service to the department, college, university, and profession. Duties also include submitting required documentation to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and to SACSCOC. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
The Department of Psychology and Communication offers a B.A., an MS in Psychology, and an MA in Counseling Psychology, with a doctoral program in bilingual/language cognition to launch soon. An inaugural director is sought to help launch the program.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a PhD. in Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive Science or related field. A research doctorate (PhD not EDD) in bilingual education may be considered if research is complimentary to faculty in the psychology program and to the focus of the doctoral program. A record of publications based on independent research activities, a high potential to attract external funding; and experience teaching and mentoring students is desired. Applicants must have a research record that qualifies them for tenure and appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. We strongly encourage candidates with a record of publications in high-impact journals and a strong history of extramural research support.
