    Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

     

    As Sr. Manager, Manufacturing Quality, you will lead a team of talented quality professionals responsible for the quality assurance and control activities for all manufacturing, assembly and test operations within the Kuiper satellite production facilities. You will work with Engineering, Operations and Supplier Quality teams to establish and operate quality system mechanisms that deliver high-performance satellites at unprecedented volume.

     

    Key job responsibilities

     

    - Own quality management system processes for Kuiper's satellite manufacturing operations

     

    - Lead team of Quality Engineers, Inspectors and Technicians covering multiple manufacturing value streams and sites

     

    - Drive defect identification and reduction activities including application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools

     

    - Foster a culture of quality, improvement and learning with Kuiper

    Export Control Requirement:

    Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

    This role is a people manager and is the top quality leader within Kuiper's satellite manufacturing factories. This role must identify and solve problems within complex manufacturing environments while coaching teams and developing mechanisms to consistently deliver high-quality products.

    About the team

     

    Kuiper Quality’s mission is to ensure that our supply chain, manufacturing and launch operations build, deliver and launch high-quality satellite infrastructure that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

    Basic Qualifications

    - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing/Mechanical/Aerospace/Electrical) or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

     

    - 10+ years in high-reliability manufacturing environments

     

    - 7+ years working with space or aviation hardware, working with standard aerospace materials

     

    - 7+ years working under AS9100 or ISO9001 compliance, or similar

     

    - 7+ years leading APQP and Root Cause Analysis for hardware failures across multiple disciplines (PCBA, assembly, avionics, machining, test)

     

    - 7+ years managing Quality/Manufacturing teams

    Preferred Qualifications

    - GD&T, ASME Y14.5 and machined part inspection processes

     

    - IPC610 Class 3 compliant Electronics assembly and inspection processes

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
