    Position description

    Job requirements

This position is intended for collaborative research working on X chromosome dosage compensation mechanisms in mouse and humans and the role of X-linked gene expression in the placenta. The Plath lab uses cutting-edge stem cell biology, mouse models, gene regulation, imaging, and omics techniques to study these questions.

The preferred qualifications for this position are as follows:

+ Ph.D. in Gene Regulation, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Stem Cell Biology, or a related field.

+ At least 3 years of postdoctoral experience with a strong publication and collaborative record.

+ Expertise in X-chromosome dosage compensation.

+ Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, and advanced imaging.

+ Experience in bioinformatics and analyzing single cell and bulk genomics dat.

+ Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

+ Demonstrated ability to lead independent projects and work collaboratively within a team.

    Job duties and responsibilities

+ Design and conduct experiments to dissect molecular mechanisms underlying gene expression dosage compensation on the X chromosomes in placental mammals and apply genetic approaches to test functional relationships.

+ Lead and execute projects focused on the understanding the role of X-linked genes expression in the placenta, at the feto-maternal interphase.

+ Use state-of-the-art omics including genomics, metabolomics, proteomics and imaging techniques to characterize cell populations and lineage specification and their X-linked gene expression in vivo and in vitro.

+ Utilize mouse models and human tissues in addressing questions of interest.

+ Perform the analyses and interpretation of resulting genomics data.

+ Develop and optimize protocols for the analysis of the mouse placenta by single cell and single nucleus genomics approaches.

+ Collaborate with other lab members and external collaborators to integrate multi-disciplinary approaches into the studies of X-chromosome dosage compensation.

+ Mentor junior scientists, postdocs, and students in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing.

+ Contribute to the preparation of research manuscripts for publication, grant proposals, and progress reports and gather pilot data for grant proposals.

+ Responsible for the maintenance of lab instruments and training new users in their operation. Help with safety protocols.

+ Seek funds to establish own independence.
