    Job Description:

    This position is within the Department's Materials Testing & Exploration section of the Bureau of Project Development. The selected candidate will be primarily working with a small team of testing technicians who perform laboratory tests on construction materials in Bangor, Maine.

    Typical responsibilities may include:

    + Performing high quality testing of soils and aggregate in precise accordance with AASHTO, ASTM, and MaineDOT procedures as trained and directed.

    + Performing routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory testing equipment.

    + Standing for long hours, regularly handling and manipulating heavy material samples without assistance. Working safely with power tools, testing equipment, and when handling samples, being sure to follow all safety requirements.

     

    Preference will be given to candidates certified by NETTCP as a Soils & Aggregate Laboratory Technician with a working knowledge of MaineDOT quality assurance testing. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor.

    To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:

    Five (5) years of experience in engineering –OR- an Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and three (3) years of experience in engineering -OR- a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and one (1) year of experience in engineering.
