Description
A high-volume employer within the resort and gaming industry is seeking an experienced Payroll Director to lead and optimize its payroll operations. This individual will manage a complex payroll environment serving over 1,000 employees and will be instrumental in driving accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency across multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities
+ Oversee full-cycle payroll operations, including tax filings, garnishments, timekeeping, and scheduling
+ Manage, mentor, and develop a team of payroll professionals
+ Ensure ongoing compliance with tribal, federal, and state wage and hour laws
+ Audit payroll processes and internal reports to ensure accuracy
+ Administer payroll system upgrades, implementations, and process improvements
+ Coordinate closely with Finance and HR on accruals, employee data, and reporting
+ Lead the preparation and filing of annual tax documents such as W-2s and related IRS forms
+ Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts and support audits
+ Maintain high standards of confidentiality and accuracy at all times
SALARY RANGE: $95,000 - $135,000

Requirements
Required Qualifications
+ Minimum 5 years of experience overseeing payroll for a large employer (minimum of 500+ employees; current operations serve 1,000+ employees)
+ 4 or more years of supervisory experience
+ Strong, working knowledge of payroll and timekeeping systems
+ Proven track record in payroll compliance and process improvement
+ Resort and/or casino industry experience strongly preferred
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field
+ Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) required; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
Ideal Candidate Will Also Have:
+ Experience in complex environments involving tip, toke, and service charge reconciliation
+ Familiarity with multi-entity payroll structures and scheduling platforms
+ Excellent analytical, communication, and team leadership skills
+ Experience with 401(k) audits and IRS Form 5500 compliance
