Description We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a NOC Technician based in Somerset, New Jersey. The selected individual will undertake crucial tasks in our operations, including the management of network issues, the oversight of equipment installation, and the upkeep of our virtual database.
Responsibilities:
• Efficiently extend circuits from the demarcation point to client’s equipment and participate in conference calls to troubleshoot and confirm connectivity.
• Perform network cable installations using patch panels and label standards (copper, MM/SM fiber).
• Utilize cable analyzers (Fluke) to troubleshoot and resolve network issues.
• Manage the storage of decommissioned blade servers; label and record information accurately.
• Coordinate the decommissioning and disposal of old equipment.
• Implement new patch panel infrastructure needs and placement.
• Configure ILO settings on new production servers, switch ports, VLANs.
• Oversee the equipment installation group which performs device installs and cable runs.
• Populate the virtual database with devices and connections.
• Handle troubleshoot and installation requests via ticketing system. Requirements • Possess a strong understanding of Network Operations Center (NOC) principles and practices.
• Relevant experience in a NOC environment.
• Proficiency in using NOC specific software and tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on network troubleshooting.
• Demonstrable knowledge of network protocols, routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Strong technical skills with an understanding of network hardware and software.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, coordinating with different departments as necessary.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for conveying technical information to non-technical team members.
• Ability to work in shifts, as NOC functions 24/7.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to anticipate and mitigate network issues before they escalate.
• Relevant certifications in networking would be an advantage.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
