    Primary Function of Organizational Unit

     

    The NCCU Online: BS in Health Administration Flight Path Program prepares students to become a global leader and practitioner who can improve patient outcomes. The program emphasizes key competencies in management, analysis, finance, technology, policy, and communication — all of which are relevant to leadership positions within health care organizations.

     

    The Department of Public Health Education, College of Health and Sciences at North Carolina Central University, seeks candidates for a nine-month, tenure eligible position as Assistant or Associate Professor of Health Administration.

    Primary Purpose of Position

    The successful applicant will serve as the lead faculty member for the program with a team of other experienced Instructors. Responsibilities will include:

     

    Teach highly engaging content specific courses for undergraduate students to prepare them for leadership and impactful positions in Health Administration. Faculty are expected to teach 3-4 courses every semester. The successful candidate will be expected to provide instruction in a 100% online environment. The candidate will teach undergraduate courses in one or more of the following areas:

     

    | HAD 3000 Intro to Health Systems

     

    | HAD 3100 Healthcare Ethics

     

    | HAD 4520 Healthcare Risk Management (MGT 300)

     

    | HAD 3200 Healthcare Law & Legal Aspects (BLAW 3100)

     

    | HAD 3300 Health Informatics (CIS 1000)

     

    | HAD 4000 Healthcare Economics & Finance (FIN 3200, ECON 2100)

     

    | HAD 3410 Quality Management in Healthcare (MGT 3000)

     

    | HAD 3400 Healthcare Marketing

     

    | HAD 3310 Health Information Technology

     

    | HAD 3320 Health Data Management

     

    | HAD 3500 Strategic Management (MGT 3000, FIN 3200)

     

    | HAD 4100 Healthcare Seminar

     

    Also, the candidate will be expected to provide professional service to Department, University, community, and professional associations. Research opportunities are available.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

     

    Expertise in course development in one or more of the aforementioned course areas OR other areas of subject matter expertise

     

    Previous teaching experience at the college or university level, especially in on-line delivery;

     

    Evidence of development of student assessment activities.

     

    Relevant work experience in one of the content areas

     

    Experience working in CANVAS or another learning management system (LMS)

     

    Record of research and scholarly activity including publications AND or Ability to engage in research and scholarly activities (e.g., peer-reviewed publications and research funding).

     

    Able to identify and support student experiential and capstone activities

     

    Familiarity with accreditation process with the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) or another agency.

     

    Successful applicant should expect to attend departmental and/or campus meetings/events at least 2-3 times during the academic year.

    Minimum Education/Experience

    Doctoral degree in health administration or a closely related field at the time of employment from an accredited program and/or university

     

    At least 2 years teaching experience or demonstrated potential for success in teaching undergraduate courses, preferably in online format

     

    Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation

    Although not required, applicants should indicate if they have any of the following certifications:

    **Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (** **FACHE** **)** , **Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (** **CPHQ** **)** ; **Certified Medical Manager (** **CMM** **)** ; **Certified in Healthcare Compliance (** **CHC** **)** ; **Certified Healthcare Administrative Professional (** **CHAP** **)** ; **Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (** **CPHRM** **)** ; **Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (** **CPHIMS** **)** ; **Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (** **CHFP** **)** .

     

    ACUE or other certification in quality assurance for online instruction highly preferred
