Job Description:

Roles and Responsibilities:
+ Develops, directs, initiates and coordinates analyses, reviews and related staff work in connection with multi-agency agreements or other efforts to address Trans-Hudson public transit capacity needs.
+ Directs and manages internal and external Trans-Hudson coordination activities with other stakeholders and transit operators. Serves as liaison with USDOT, Amtrak, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and others in relation to Trans-Hudson planning activities.
+ Directs and coordinates planning activities for Trans-Hudson intermodal initiatives.
+ Directs and coordinates planning for New Starts projects.
+ Directs long-range rail system network planning efforts in coordination with Rail Service Planning, Engineering and other NJ TRANSIT and external partners.
+ Directs conceptual planning efforts for rail yard and line capacity improvement projects.
+ Coordinates with other internal staff responsible for Northeast Corridor, Amtrak, FRA and Northeast Corridor Commission activities to ensure consistency in Trans-Hudson and New Starts initiative management.
This position supervises:
+ Assistant Directors, Trans-Hudson
+ Large and complex consultant teams
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Business Administration or related area
+ Ten (10) or more years of experience in initiating, planning, evaluating, developing and managing public transportation improvement projects, to include five (5) years of experience in managing staff and consultant work in developing, designing and implementation of technical or engineering improvement projects.
Knowledge and Skills:
+ Knowledge of transportation planning principles and techniques, bus and rail transit and freight facilities and operations, contracting principles, transportation engineering, federal and state statutory and regulatory requirements and technical writing required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• NJ Professional Planner License
