    Job Title: Die Maker

    Job Description

    The Die Maker's responsibility will be to work on automotive dies for changes and validations. They will work on product changes and new builds per customer standards. They will also be required to evaluate panels on fixtures to determine and troubleshoot the proper path for correct tolerance of dies. The candidate should be able to read and interpret CMM data to determine the path to correctness. They should have knowledge of press setup, both straight side and toggle (dual action). They will need to understand tonnage requirements, air cushions, nitro cylinders, and die springs.

    Responsibilities

    + Work on automotive dies for changes and validations.

    + Evaluate panels on fixtures to determine and troubleshoot the proper path for correct tolerance of dies.

    + Read and interpret CMM data to determine the path to correctness.

    + Set up presses, both straight side and toggle (dual action).

    + Understand and apply knowledge of tonnage requirements, air cushions, nitro cylinders, and die springs.

    + Make and try out large automotive dies for hoods, doors, and fenders.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience with large die/die tryout (500-2000 ton dies).

    + Ability to read and interpret CMM data.

    + Knowledge of press setup, both straight side and toggle (dual action).

    + Understanding of tonnage requirements, air cushions, nitro cylinders, and die springs.

    + Minimum of 6 years in the trade.

    + Journeyman card preferred.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with spotting, Class A surfaces, barbering, and troubleshooting.

    + MIG/TIG welding skills.

    + Knowledge of GD&T and SMIRT.

    + Ability to work on doors, hoods, and fenders.

    + Must bring own tools.

    Work Environment

     

    Large, clean shop with very large machines. The environment is not overly noisy, but it is not temperature controlled. The shift is from 3:30 PM to 1:30 AM, Monday to Saturday, with Sundays as needed. There is a 30-minute lunch break and 1-2 15-minute breaks.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $33.00/hr.
