    This position will involve instructing the following courses during the fall 2023 semester:

    Art 317: Elementary Art Methods and Materials

     

    (3 credits)

     

    Art 440: Art Education Methods Lecture

     

    (1 credit)

     

    Art 451: Art Education Methods Internship

     

    (2 credits)

     

    And to provide advisement to K-12 Art Teacher Preparation students throughout the academic year.

     

    Position Summary Information

    Position Summary

    The SRU Art Department is seeking a part-time temporary instructor for Fall 2025 to advise and oversee the direction of the Art Department’s Concentration in K-12 Art Teacher Preparation and activities connected with this Concentration. Responsibilities include teaching and organization/management of the department’s Art Education related courses, student advisement and observation, communication and interaction with area school districts where student field work will occur.

    Minimum Qualifications

    MFA (Master of Fine Arts) in a designated Art discipline, MA (or higher) in Art Education, or equivalent degree and/or experience in the K-12 Art Education field. Knowledge of historical and contemporary theories and practices pertinent to the field of Art Education required.

     

    Application materials should include evidence of successful teaching both within and beyond the classroom, in addition to evidence of a demonstrated commitment to the education of diverse populations.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Public school K-12 Art teaching experience; prior college teaching experience also preferred.
