Slippery Rock University is seeking a full-time temporary faculty member capable of teaching general chemistry and/or organic chemistry laboratories for the 2025 Fall semester.
Applicants are asked to electronically submit a current CV, a well-written teaching philosophy (no more than three (3) pages), and a cover letter. Please submit your teaching philosophy using the “Teaching Philosophy” tab. The cover letter should be no longer than two (2) pages and should specifically comment on your abilities and interest in teaching undergraduates in a laboratory setting.
Graduate and undergraduate transcripts will be required. Please upload the transcripts under the “Transcript” tab. Official transcripts will be due prior to appointment.
Please provide the contact information of at least three (3) individuals that can speak to the candidate’s teaching effectiveness and other qualifications. Specifically, please include the email addresses and phone numbers for references using the online system when solicited to do so as part of the application process. Full consideration will be given to complete applications received by May 7, 2025.

Work Schedule
Position requires face-to-face instruction and on-site presence at the Slippery Rock University campus. Student consultation hours (minimum of 5 hours on three different days) are expected. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching labs as assigned (potentially night labs (500 – 730 pm). Current lab schedule is M and T 500 – 730 pm; Wednesday 2 – 730 pm.

The candidate is expected to teach 4 sections of General Chemistry I lab or Organic Chemistry I lab and hold office hours during the fall 2025 semester.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters, ABD or PhD in chemistry. Commitment to the education of diverse populations. Successful performance in an interview and teaching demonstration.
