Job Description
The Senior Director of Project Management, Planning, and Operations position within the Global Commercial Operations (GCO) team will report directly to the Head of GCO and will lead 1) the GCO project management function, which supports the execution of the Commercialization Teams/G.Ecosystem model 2) communication and coordination of the Annual Planning process: Global Indication Strategic Plan (ISP), Global Plan of Action (GPOA), Local Strategic Plan (LSP) 3) a team of seven Global Commercial Project Managers.
The GCO project management function will support our Commercialization Teams (CTs), Early Commercialization Teams (eCTs), and Established Products Teams (EPTs). This individual will have several direct reports who are responsible for project management of teams within their respective therapy areas including virology, oncology, and inflammation. The Early Commercialization Teams and Commercialization Teams are responsible for providing commercial assessment for assets to inform RF2 and RF3, Indication Strategic Plans (ISPs) and Global Plan of Action (GPOA), Launch plans and Launch Readiness Reviews. The Established Product Teams are responsible for proactively managing the established product portfolio focused on value optimization.
The Annual Strategic Planning process consists of creation of the two critical plans, the ISPs, which are cross-functional global strategic plans by indication, and GPOAs. The candidate will be responsible for working with a cross-functional team that leads our CTs through multiple steps of this process including managing membership of CTs, eCTs, EPTs, executing Global Connectivity Week, and review and completion of ISPs and GPOAs.
The successful candidate should have or be able to develop a good understanding of Gilead’s portfolio, be highly collaborative, have expertise working in large cross-functional and matrixed teams, and understand how to create commercial strategies and how to translate strategy from global to local. The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead, motivate, train and develop a team of project managers who will be critical to supporting CTs, eCTs, EPTs. The candidate should have the proven ability to effectively manage large and complex projects and workstreams and effectively network across the organization and communicate with senior leaders, all within a very dynamic, fast paced environment.

Core Responsibilities:
+ Evolve and elevate the GCO project management and operations function – ensuring the team is set up for success and delivering value for the organization.
+ Leadership of team responsible for project and process management of Gilead eCTs/CTs/EPTs.
+ Responsible for driving annual strategic planning process.
+ Serve as key thought partner to eCT/CT/EPT leaders within Global Strategic Marketing (GSM) and GCSO VP/SVP Leadership Team.
+ Partner with GCSO LT to identify areas for process efficiency improvement across eCTs/CTs/EPTs and overall teams system.
+ Lead, motivate, train and develop direct reports.
Minimum** **Required Education and Years of Experience:
Bachelor's Degree and Fourteen Years’ Experience
OR
Masters' Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience
OR
PhD and Twelve Years’ Experience
• **Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Proven history of team leadership and people development.
+ 2+ years of people leadership experience preferred.
+ Able to create an inclusive environment and lead empowered individuals who operate with high standards of alignment, trust, accountability, expertise, transparency, and collaboration.
+ Able to take accountability and empower individuals and teams to make effective decisions which are aligned with the company’s vision, values and goal.
+ Highly resourceful and strategic thinker with strong emotional intelligence and operational rigor, able to help teams anticipate, plan, and adapt to an evolving environment.
+ Proven ability to work and lead in a highly complex environment, with a demonstrated track record of achieving KPIs.
+ Demonstrated consistent cross-functional collaborator, and business partner, directly contributing to achieve the GCPM function’s overall objectives.
+ Strong leadership and communication skills across functions and leadership teams; comfort in business and technical discussions with senior leadership.
+ Experience must include 9+ years of leading cross-functional project management activities within the pharmaceutical industry, building, managing and articulating comprehensive, complex, cross-functional plans.
+ Excellent project management capabilities with the ability to apply principles, concepts, practices, and deep understanding of project management the standards of pharmaceutical project management to this role.
+ International work experience and experience working with global markets preferred.
+ Experience driving large initiatives from framing the problem, conducting research / analysis to building the business and operational plans through to driving execution to success is required.
+ Advanced knowledge and skill with project management software/tools, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel and other reporting and tracking tools.
+ Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative high-growth environment.
+ PMP (Project Management Professional) or other PM certification or equivalent preferred.
+ Years experience: 14+ Years with BS/BA; 12+ Years with Masters preferred.

The salary range for this position is: $243,100.00 - $314,600.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
