    Job Description:

    Dr. Xiao Fan’s laboratory (https://xiaofan-lab.github.io/) in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida has a fully-funded postdoctoral associate position. Fan Lab aims to understand genetic causes of rare human diseases using case-control association studies, and improving interpretation of genetic variations using machine learning methods. Research projects will involve study design, data acquisition, method development, data analysis, and software/database maintenance.

    Expected Salary:

    Salary will commensurate with experience and will follow NIH guidelines.

    Minimum Requirements:

    + PhD in computer science, statistical genetics, bioinformatics or related quantitative subject.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Experience with high performance computing

    + Experience with deep learning modelling

    + Experience with bioinformatics projects

    + Relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals

    + Ability to mentor junior team members

    + A strong background in programming (e.g. python or R)

    + Demonstrated experience with machine learning modelling

    + Interest in learning biological/genetic concepts

    + Excellent communication skills
