Internal Control and Risk Intern

An undergraduate or graduate student with strong analytical skills to work in the Office of Compliance Services and support the implementation of the Research Foundation's Internal Controls and Enterprise Risk Management programs. The incumbent will interact with all levels of the Research Foundation and SUNY constituents, and report to the Deputy Compliance Officer. The candidate must be organized and conduct themselves professionally as this position will involve significant interaction with Directors and Vice Presidents at the Research Foundation.
Risk Management and Internal Control Activities:
+ Assist with the mitigation plans for significant enterprise risks.
+ Assist with the Enterprise Risk Management assessment program which identifies the most significant risks to the Research Foundation
+ Document the Enterprise Risk Management process
+ Facilitate the preparation of the risk dashboard, risk heat maps, and related documentation for presentation to management.
Audit Remediation Responsibilities:
+ Review Internal Audit reports, letters, and related materials and advise management on the implementation of recommended remedial action.
+ Coordinate the management response to Internal Audit reports, letters, or related materials issued by the Internal Audit Department
+ Assist management with remediating findings identified through the audit or monitoring processes to ensure identified deficiencies are addressed consistently with regulatory requirements, the internal control methodology, and relevant RF policies.
+ Prepare reports for the Deputy Compliance Officer, leadership, and the Board assessing remedial efforts.
Other Duties:
+ Internal Control and Risk Intern will perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Compliance Officer in support of the implementation of the Research Foundation's Compliance Program
Job Requirements:
+ Enrolled at an accredited University or College
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills
+ Excellent time management and organizational skills
+ Able to manage projects while adhering to the highest ethical standards.
+ Ingenuity and persistence in obtaining information not readily available.
+ Adaptable and able to meet deadlines, juggle multiple demands.
+ Strong skills in negotiating, relationship building, and problem solving; able to work with all types of individuals.
+ Detail oriented, but able to quickly understand the larger or strategic picture.
Qualifications:
+ Proficiency in MS Office (Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Compensation for this position: The compensation for this role is $20 per hour for undergraduates and $22 per hour for graduate students.
