The Rice Center for Engineering Leadership (RCEL) at Rice University seeks a Professor in the Practice to teach Engineering Leadership Development. RCEL is a center within the George R. Brown School of Engineering and Computing at Rice University in Houston, TX. This is a part-time, nontraditional, non-tenure-track faculty position designed specifically to create and teach engineering management, project management, and leadership courses in the Undergraduate Engineering Leadership Certificate Program.
Instructional activities will support RCEL’s certificate in engineering leadership and involve collaborations with faculty across the School of Engineering and Computing, involving syllabus and assignment design, leadership theory and practical instruction, and evaluation of oral presentations or written reports. Professional responsibilities include mentoring students, developing in-person and on-line courses and administering and analyzing assessment materials. This is a teaching position and prior curricular design, teaching, and leadership experience is required. An initial one-year appointment may be followed by a renewable three-year contract.

Candidates must have a degree in engineering or a related technical field. A Master’s (M.S.) or Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Engineering or a related technical field is preferred. Alternatively, a degree in Engineering combined with an MBA will be considered. Knowledge of engineering, engineering education, or project management is required.
Candidates with at least five years of experience teaching leadership development are preferred. Industry experience in project management, engineering economics and engineering management/leadership is also highly desirable.
