    Job Description :

    + **Job Description** Provides leadership and direction of MHS Police Department. Provides day to day and overall leadership of police administration as well as patrol operations on the Methodist Dallas campus

    + Primary FunctionThe primary function of the Assistant Chief of Police is to assist and support the Chief of Police as second in command, with responsibility for the leadership, administration, and direction of all activities of the Methodist Health System Police Department, and all divisions and responsibilities assigned to the department.Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvides leadership and direction for the Methodist Health System Police Department. Additionally, provides day to day administration and supervision for all police operations within the Methodist Health System Police Department.Establishes, implements, and manages policy statements and standard operating procedures in support of Methodist Health System and Police Department goals and objectives; in addition to the mission, vision, and value statements.Provides day to day supervision of the Methodist Health System Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, Internal Affairs and Training Functions, Communications, PBX, and Card Access Programs; in addition to ensuring operational readiness of human and infrastructure assets.Assists the Chief of Police with oversight and adherence to the fiscal budgets assigned to the Methodist Health System Police Department and prepares written reports detailing variances as requested.Assists the Chief of Police with ensuring that yearly evaluations are prepared for all officers and civilian staff assigned to the Methodist Health System Police Department. In addition, ensures that adequate feedback is provided by supervisors addressing the strengths and weaknesses of employees, and identifying opportunities for professional growth.Assists the Chief of Police with ensuring the proper management of facilities, fleet assets, uniforms, and equipment; in addition to ensuring responsible acquisition and allocation of said facilities, fleet assets, uniforms, and equipment to personnel as needed and within budgetary parameters.Interacts regularly with outside public safety professionals in an effort to develop a network of professional peer support and maintain a current knowledge of law enforcement methods and techniques.Knowledge and Experience Required:A. Education:Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice or related field requiredMaster’s Degree preferred.B. Licenses and/or Certifications Required:TCOLE Master Peace Officer CertificationC. Related Work Experience:5 Or more years as a Lieutenant or higherD. Other Considerations (communication, interpersonal skills, etc.)Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong ability to balance law enforcement and customer service skills in a campus environment. Must be able to develop and maintain continuity in services between multiple campus environments and jurisdictions.
