Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
+ Bachelor’s degree.
+ Minimum of five years of experience working with neurodivergent students and students with ASD .
+ Knowledge of disability law, including the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504, and its practical application for students with disabilities.
+ Program management experience in providing workshops and training (e.g., communication skills, social skills, executive functioning, career readiness).
+ Proficiency in interpreting a range of educational, psychological, and medical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s degree.
+ Strong ability to understand and address the unique needs of college students with disabilities, with a genuine interest in providing one-on-one support to meet their accessibility requirements in an academic environment.
+ Knowledge of the Accessible Information Management ( AIM ) database.
Job Description
The program coordinator will oversee the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive support services for neurodivergent students and students with ASD . This role involves strategic planning, program evaluation, and collaboration with university departments and external partners to ensure the success and well-being of students with autism.
Job Duties
+ Develop, implement, and evaluate support programs tailored to the needs of neurodivergent students and students with autism spectrum disorder ( ASD ). Oversee the daily operations of the Autism Support Program ( ASP ), ensuring high-quality service delivery.
+ Provide on-going direct support and resources to neurodivergent students and students with ASD , including academic advising, social skills training, individual advocacy, and referrals to appropriate campus resources. Develop individualized support plans for students, addressing their unique needs and goals. Provides resources that address the unique needs of neurodivergent students and students with ASD and focuses on those strategies needed by students at Texas State University.
+ Provides consultation and training to students, faculty, and staff regarding accessibility issues and laws to foster disability awareness, sensitivity, and knowledge. Serves as a resource for the accessibility needs and rights of students with disabilities. Facilitate workshops and training sessions for students, parents, and faculty on neurodivergent and ASD awareness and support strategies.
+ Creates and maintains appropriate records by documenting communication with/regarding students. Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on program activities and outcomes.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
