Position Description:

Major/Essential Functions:

+ Provides Gastroenterology in-patient hospital care and in-patient consultation services

+ Provides outpatient care in Faculty Clinic and/or supervision of Resident and Fellow clinics

+ Supervises and teaches students, residents, and fellows in both in-patient and outpatient care

+ Participates in academic activities in the areas of education, clinical care, and research

+ Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship

+ Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance such as committee work

+ Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission

+ Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures

+ Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations

+ Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with Paul L. Foster Schoof of Medicine Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Bilingual in English and Spanish

+ Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine

+ Board certification in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine

+ Board certification in Advanced Endoscopy by the American Board of Internal Medicine

+ Regional or emerging national reputation for the rank of Associate Professor or higher

Required Qualifications:

+ M.D. or D.O. degree

+ Texas medical license, or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas

+ Successful completion of ACGME-accredited residency training in Internal Medicine

+ Successful completion of ACGME-accredited fellowship training in gastroenterology

+ Successful completion of ACGME-accredited fellowship training in advanced endoscopy
