    Dispute Resolution Board at Stetson University College of Law is well-known for excellence. Stetson’s fifty-plus-student Dispute Resolution Board is an important and often featured part of the Center for Excellence in Advocacy, and our student members are renowned for their poise, professionalism, collaboration, and outstanding preparation for competition.

     

    We are seeking a dynamic, high-performing, production-oriented, and student- focused legal professional to join our exceptional and engaged leadership team.     The Assistant Director for Dispute Resolution will . . .

     

    provide strategic as well as day-to-day operational support for the Dispute Resolution Board. As a member of the Center for Excellence in Advocacy, the Assistant Director of Dispute Resolution will also be the point person for relevant internal-facing and external-facing initiatives at Stetson Law, collaborate with colleagues, faculty, staff, and volunteers, and will promote a winning and gracious spirit, a sense of belonging, and a people-centered, high-performing, and relationship-rich culture of excellence.     Specifically, you will:

    + Organize, coach and prepare student teams

    + Design, develop and conduct workshops

    + Research and recommend new competition opportunities

    + Collaborate with academic and professional teams to develop programming

    + Manage student selection

    + Oversee program budget

    + Plan and execute various dispute resolution events

    + Celebrate program successes through social media and institutional announcements

    Required Skills

    + Broad understanding of dispute resolution methods and practices, such as those gained from a program of legal education in preparation for a JD, work experience in the field, or specific CLE coursework.

    + Judgment skills sufficient to manage normal campus risks, oversee student activities and classrooms, advise students regarding dispute resolution-related questions, and the like.

    + Financial literacy sufficient to build, track, and manage budgets.

    + Well-honed and reliable logistics skills sufficient to manage multiple operational variables and resources when scheduling, preparing for competitions and travel, location and distance variables, and human resources with competing priorities.

    + Social skills sufficient to interface in a positive way with, and gain the confidence and trust of campus constituencies (students, faculty, staff) as well as external constituencies (alumni, members of the advocacy community, etc.)

    + Project-management and project-execution skills sufficient to design, organize, and manage complex tasks and activities and develop related communications plans and documents to accompany and memorialize the content.

    + Cultural competencies sufficient to work with all students, to understand differences, to facilitate a culture of belonging and inclusion, and to incorporate those principles into skill-development activities and curricula.

    Required Experience

    + J.D. is required. One to three years of legal work experience preferred.

     

    Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University’s auto insurance carrier.
