Associate Director of the Cross Cultural Center

The Associate Director of the Cross Cultural Center will coordinate and implement comprehensive diversity initiatives, manage aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Cross-Cultural Center (Tri-C), and foster an inclusive campus environment at Stetson University. Reporting to the Executive Director of Civic, Cultural, and Community Engagement, the Associate Director will collaborate with academic departments, student organizations, and administrative offices to support student success, recruitment, and retention efforts that prioritize diverse perspectives and experiences. The Associate Director directly supervises the AmeriCorps VISTA and indirectly supervises the Graduate Assistant and 7 additional student employees (Multicultural Student Council and Office Assistants); manages operational budgets totaling more than $20,000/year; and directly manages multiple community partners. A key responsibility will be overseeing the WISE Peer Mentorship Program and enhancing it to become a premier program that mirrors the Stetson University Bonner Program. The Associate Director will also build external community partnerships and create a pipeline for WISE Scholars to secure internship opportunities. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Employment duties include, but are not limited to:
+ Develop, manage, and execute the WISE Peer Mentorship Program as a signature four-year developmental program with defined cornerstone activities and curriculum progression
+ Recruit, train, and directly supervise the AmeriCorps VISTA position, providing ongoing professional development and performance evaluation
+ Recruit, train, and indirectly supervise the Graduate Assistant and 7 student employees (Multicultural Student Council and Office Assistants)
+ Work with the Executive Director to plan and lead staff meetings, trainings, retreats, professional development, and strategic planning for the Cross-Cultural Center
+ Establish and maintain strong working relationships with external community partners, foundations, and organizations that advance diversity and inclusion goals
+ Prepare annual reports for key stakeholders and partners, attend relevant meetings, and participate in special initiatives related to diversity and inclusion
+ Develop and manage a pipeline for WISE scholar internship opportunities with community partners, focusing on partnerships that advance equity in the greater DeLand community
+ Collaborate with the Executive Director and campus leaders to develop, organize, and execute cultural programming events that foster connections, celebrate diversity, encourage dialogue, and increase understanding
+ Design and coordinate signature WISE events including Summer Bridge Day, WISE Up Wednesdays, Kickback Fridays, and create capstone experiences for program completion
+ Provide cultural professional development related to diversity, inclusion, and equity for student scholars, staff, and faculty
+ Support campus efforts around diversity-related research and community-engaged learning by connecting students and faculty to high-impact opportunities
+ Manage the WISE Program budget and fiscal operations, including operational budget, student employment budget, and any special initiative funds under $20,000/year
+ Implement tracking strategies to assess and monitor program effectiveness of WISE and other diversity initiatives
+ Build trust, positive relationships, and community within the WISE Program through intentional student outreach, regular meetings, and proactive discussion of student and stakeholder ideas and concerns
+ Gather data and make evidence-based recommendations to the Executive Director regarding program enhancements, processes, and procedures
+ Oversee the marketing, promotion, and recruitment for WISE and other diversity initiatives within the Cross-Cultural Center.
+ Develop reports, presentations, promotional materials, newsletters, and other communications in collaboration with the Tri-C team
+ Participate in university committees related to student onboarding, persistence, retention, and student success
+ Stay informed of changes and developments in diversity and inclusion best practices and implement innovative approaches to advance Stetson's Strategic Plan goals
+ Through the GA for Multicultural Student Support, oversee several elements of departmental outreach to current and prospective students, including staffing Tri-C tables at events and expos (e.g., Admissions Open Houses, Student Org Fairs, Summer Orientation, Hatter Saturdays, and Community Expos)
+ Represent the Cross-Cultural Center at community events and with external organizations to strengthen Stetson's presence and partnerships
+ Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the Executive Director of Civic, Cultural, and Community Engagement
Required Skills
+ Demonstrated knowledge of issues relating to historically underrepresented and marginalized communities and proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations
+ Excellent organization, analytical, and project management skills for coordinating multiple initiatives simultaneously
+ Superior communication and presentation skills with ability to effectively engage diverse audiences including students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, and community partners
+ Ability to effectively supervise and develop professional staff, graduate assistants, and student employees
+ Demonstrated skill in facilitating small and large group discussions across multiple identities, particularly around challenging diversity and inclusion topics
+ Ability to plan, execute, and assess comprehensive programs and events, including managing all logistical aspects such as facilities, budget, marketing, and risk management
+ Knowledge of current trends and best practices in diversity and inclusion, student retention, peer mentorship, and inclusive excellence in higher education
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to learn specialized software platforms for program management and assessment
+ Strong analytical skills for gathering, interpreting, and presenting data to demonstrate program impact and inform decision-making
+ Ability to build collaborative relationships with campus and community stakeholders to advance diversity and inclusion goals

Required Experience
+ Master’s degree in education, social justice education, student affairs, liberal arts and sciences, or a related field
+ Three years of experience in a higher education, non-profit, or corporate setting, professional experience in social justice, experience working with multiple departments or working on broad-based projects, or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Prior and demonstrated experience in undergraduate academic advising, first-year programs, or with the development and management of student success and retention initiatives in a college or university setting
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
+ Previous experience with first-generation student initiatives and peer mentorship programs
+ Project management and facilitation
Work Environment: The work environment is a fast-paced office with a great deal of computer work and collaboration with students, staff, faculty, and community members. The employee may work a hybrid of remote and on-campus work with supervisor’s approval to ensure the needs of the department are met. This position will require occasional work in evenings and on weekends to execute programs that have been scheduled in advance, and arrangements will be made to ensure that comparable time can be taken off that same week.
