The Otis Service Center (OSC), in Bloomfield, CT is seeking a Machinist, for its Machine Shop operations. The Machine Shop is responsible for the manufacturing of a variety of service parts components for mechanical assemblies.

First Shift: 06:30 AM -15:00PM

On a typical day you will:

Essential Responsibilities:

+ Setting up and operating a variety of machines: HASS / Mori Seiki CNC Lathes, CNC Mills, Pro-Track mill, punch press and a variety of saws.

What you will need to be successful:

Education / Certifications:

+ The successful candidate must have a high School diploma or equivalent.

+ A certificate from a trade school is preferred.

Basic Qualifications:

+ Must follow all EH&S and safety policies and procedures.

+ Must be able to adhere to assigned work schedule, including start time and annual inventory.

+ Candidate should have knowledge and understanding of basic machining skills.

+ Candidate must be a team player committed to continuous improvement with the ability to work in a fast pace environment.

+ Ability to independently setup machines for production use.

+ Ability to read and interpret programs, prints and setup sheets.

+ Must understand cutting speed and feed rates for tooling and materials.

+ Must be able to read and use a variety of inspection tools.

+ Must be able to perform preventative maintenance on machines.

+ Must have good interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

+ Must be able to accommodate changes in production and work schedules in order to meet deadlines.

+ Must have the ability to adhere to safety standards.

+ A minimum of 3 - 4 years in the machinist trade is preferred.

Physical Demand:

+ Must be able to wear/use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.

+ Ability to lift 50 lbs. If an item weighs more than 50 lbs., employee must ask for assistance in lifting and/or use the appropriate crane, forklift or other lifting devises/

+ Walking, balancing, climbing, standing, twisting/turning, bending/stooping, crawling, crouching, kneeling/squatting, sitting, reaching above shoulder height, reaching forward, lifting (maximum 50 pounds), carrying, pushing/pulling, handling, feeling, digital dexterity, wrist flexion/extension, power grip, working speed, talking, hearing, seeing (with color vision) depth perception.
