    Mechanical Design Engineer – Automotive Focus

     

    **Hybrid Schedule** (3 Days Onsite: Tuesday–Thursday)

    Are you a mechanical designer who lives and breathes CAD, loves solving problems on the shop floor, and gets excited about bringing automotive and custom mechanical systems to life? We're looking for a **Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer** who’s passionate about all things mechanical—and especially excited by the automotive space.

     

    You'll be part of a fast-paced, collaborative team where your ideas and designs directly impact the vehicles and systems we deliver to our clients. From early concepts to final delivery, you’ll have ownership of projects that require both design precision and hands-on engineering savvy.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Take ownership of assigned projects from concept through completion with minimal direction.

    + Participate in design and spec reviews, offering innovative ideas and on-the-fly problem-solving.

    + Create detailed CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks. Manage project timelines and coordinate between engineering, manufacturing, and order writing teams.

    + Provide strong floor support understanding and empathizing with shop floor challenges. Foster strong internal and client relationships by being highly collaborative and communicative.

    + Occasionally visit client sites approximately once per quarter .

    + Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional team efforts. Top Skills and Must-Haves: SolidWorks proficiency CAD design and detailed drawings .

    + Strong project management skills and ability to lead projects independently.

    + Excellent communication skills able to work shoulder-to-shoulder with teams and clients.

    + Cradle-to-grave project experience from design to final delivery . Hands-on mechanical aptitude sheet metal fabrication, welding, or automotive experience is highly preferred.

    + Exposure to electrical schematics and/or hydraulic schematics is a major plus.

    + Previous experience in body design, upfitting, automotive, truck manufacturing, or similar industries preferred. Customer-focused, relationship-driven mindset. PMP Certification is a plus company is open to covering costs for certification after hire .

    Ideal Background:

    + **SolidWorks expert** with a strong background in CAD modeling and mechanical drawings.

    + 5–7+ years of mechanical design or project engineering experience, preferably in a manufacturing or custom build environment.

    + Solid understanding of **fabrication techniques** —sheet metal, welding, machining—or hands-on experience in **automotive, truck, or specialty vehicle industries** .

    + Experience with or exposure to **electrical and hydraulic schematics** is a strong plus.

    + Ability to lead and manage multiple projects independently with strong organizational and communication skills.

    + A collaborative, customer-focused mindset with a passion for working closely with internal teams and clients.
