    Academic Student Support Program Specialist

    POSITION DETAILS

    The Academic Student Support Program Specialist in the Office of Academic and Student Affairs (OASA) provides support for students in the School of Education across a portfolio of programs.

    Reporting to the Assistant Director of the Office of Academic & Student Affairs, along with the CUNY title Overview, the duties for the position include but are not limited to:

    + Directly advise a caseload of nearly 550 School of Education students on academic, administrative and New York State teacher certification matters.

    + Manage all facets of the administrative aspects of a student’s academic career, not limited to registration support, records updating and degree audit processing.

    + Liaise with multiple offices and departments to help resolve student issues.

    + Provide support for faculty in managing student questions and concerns.

    + Lead and manage student events including orientation, community building and administrative workshops, and provides support for commencement.

    + Maintain and organize records and files in accordance with state and college regulations.

    + Ensure accurate and timely communication to all students about college, program, and certification information.

    + Provide leadership/oversight on at least one core administrative process in the office such as: communications, use of student information management systems, orientations, etc.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience in teacher education, K-12 education, or higher education student support is highly desirable.

    + Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across offices within the college, foster positive workingrelationships, and manage complicated issues with a high level of professionalism.

    + Experience with communication and collaboration tools, as well as strong project and data management skills (Outlook, Mailchimp, Zoom, Google Workspace / Microsoft Office Suite)

    + Prior experience with student information systems (CUNYfirst, DegreeWorks, EAB Navigate), strongly preferred

    Provides educational development activities supporting a targeted academic program.

     

    - Assists in developing and preparing program offerings, curricula, guidelines, and related communications

     

    - Promotes program and advises students and College stakeholders on services, policies, and procedures

     

    - Advises faculty, counselors, tutors, administrators and others on program goals, activities, and best practices

     

    - Provides student services such as workshops, seminars, and advising sessions

     

    - Coordinates efforts of faculty, staff, and other service providers to monitor and assess utilization, student progress, and program effectiveness

     

    - Performs related duties as assigned.

    Salary commensurate with education and experience. Salary range for this position is : $52-267 - $72,667
