    Academic Student Support Program Specialist, Undergraduate Teacher Education Pathways (UTEP)

    POSITION DETAILS

    The Hunter College School of Education seeks an Academic Student Support Program Specialist, who works with the Senior Director to coordinate the Undergraduate Teacher Education Pathways (UTEP) program.Reporting to the Senior Director of the UTEP program, along with the CUNY title Overview, the duties for the position include but are not limited to:

     

    + Provides support and feedback to ensure efficient and effective operations in advising, major declaration, and student support.

    + Manages the overall workflow and processes for student advising, major declaration, and recruitment, while ensuring alignment with program and institutional goals.

    + Develops and implements strategies to support student progression, certification, and graduation.

    + Coordinates recruitment and outreach initiatives, including information sessions, marketing efforts, and external partnerships to enhance program visibility.

    + Serves as the primary liaison between UTEP leadership, faculty, and administrative offices to resolve student issues and ensure seamless program operations.

    + Maintains and analyzes student data to track engagement and retention trends, using insights to inform program strategies.

    + Ensures accurate and timely communication to all students and prospective applicants regarding program requirements, major declaration processes, and certification information.

    + Oversee and maintain student data management, ensuring accuracy

    + Supervises and guides three college assistants

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor’s degree and four years’ related experience required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Experience with student information systems (CUNYfirst, DegreeWorks, EAB Navigate)

    + Experience with Outlook, Mailchimp, Zoom, Handshake, Acuity Scheduling, Google Workspace / Microsoft Office Suite and Canva

    + Experience in teacher education, K-12 education, or higher education student support is highly desirable.

    + Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across offices within the college, foster positive working relationships, and manage complicated issues with a high level of professionalism.

    + Experience with communication and collaboration tools, as well as strong project and data management skills (Outlook, Mailchimp, Zoom, Handshake, Acuity Scheduling, Google Workspace / Microsoft Office Suite

    CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

    Provides educational development activities supporting a targeted academic program.

     

    - Assists in developing and preparing program offerings, curricula, guidelines, and related communications

     

    - Promotes program and advises students and College stakeholders on services, policies, and procedures

     

    - Advises faculty, counselors, tutors, administrators and others on program goals, activities, and best practices

     

    - Provides student services such as workshops, seminars, and advising sessions

     

    - Coordinates efforts of faculty, staff, and other service providers to monitor and assess utilization, student progress, and program effectiveness

     

    - Performs related duties as assigned.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    Salary commensurate with education and experience. Salary range for this position is: **$52-267 - $75,465**
